The doctor is out. There won’t be a second season of the Complications TV show. USA Network has decided to cancel the drama series after one season of 10 episodes.
Complications follows a disillusioned suburban doctor (Jason O’Mara) who’s still dealing with the emotional effects of his young daughter’s death from cancer. He unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a 12-year-old boy’s life. The rest of the cast includes Jessica Szohr, Lauren Stamile, Chris Chalk, Beth Riesgraf, and RonReaco Lee.
The series got off to a lackluster start in the ratings in late June with a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.91 million viewers. Viewership saw a big drop in week two and remained pretty poor for the rest of the season. The 10 episodes ended up averaging a 0.35 in the demo with 1.44 million.
Except for Suits, all of USA’s existing dramas have been way down year-to-year and none of their new ones have been a hit in the ratings (including Mr. Robot).
Despite Complications’ ratings challenges, USA was still considering bringing the show back for a second season. Deadline reports that execs had secured a four-day extension on the cast contracts while they made their final decision. Execs tried to work out an economically feasable deal with Fox 21 TV Studios for a second season but, in the end, it didn’t happen.
The final episode of Complications aired on August 13th.
What do you think? Did you like the Complications TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled? Would you have watched a second season, perhaps on another channel?
Yes I would watch it even on another channel
Me too
Just finished watching the ten episodes. Awesome. Very sorry to hear there is no second season. Good shows are hard to come by and when we finally find one it is disappointing. We did not know about this show and stumbled upon it accidentally on Netflix. Needed to be better advertised.
I am very disappointed the second season was cancelled.. Really was a dope show i was looking forward to seeing the 2nd part
I am very disappointed this show was a great drama and I was really looking forward to a part 2.
Please bring back compilations
I think that the show should have went on. I was really looking forward to a second season. I keep checking to make sure they aren’t.
I finally got to watch all the episodes of Complications, and they all held my interest, something that few shows can do. I think it should have been given a second season, for sure. The acting was superb, and the plot was different. Really enjoyed it!
Great show, friends liked also! Now I know why I haven’t seen summer previews! Ready to turn off TV for summer then
Watching on netflix now. Wish they would take it on like they did Longmire.
Certainly no such thing as respect for your audience. No wonder people are getting rid of their cable.
There better be a season two they can’t end it the way they did and not have a second season!!!
I am just finding out that I won’t be able to follow this show again. Loved it and will miss it.
I’m so upset about this! Every single time I like a show on USA it seems to get canceled. They keep having these “one season shows” all the time because they start a show then cancel it, start one, cancel it, start one, cancel it! What the heck for?! I’m so sick of that. I’ll no longer even watch anything on USA ever again because every show gets canceled so what is the point. They may as well just start doing reality shows because it’s the only thing that makes sense to do only one season of each show. So… Read more »
I really enjoyed The show!!!!! BRING BACK COMPLICATIONS!!!!!!!! Now
Absolutely Loved the show. It was the Best in a long time. They need this show back. It related to what a lot of people would go through for their family. I don’t watch TV series anymore because you can guess what is going to happen next, and they are all about the same thing. The first season spends time getting to know the characters and get to relate. It’s the second season and then on that should matter. 10 shows is Not enough time for advertising, relating to the characters and follow the point of the events of the… Read more »
well, I see once again the older folks get cheated out of show we like because we are not in the younger crowd. Way to go.
