Things are getting a little sick over at The CW. The network has ordered a new series called Containment that revolves around a mysterious epidemic. The hour series will debut in early 2016 but an exact premiere date hasn’t been announced yet.
Here’s the network’s description and video preview:
When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure. Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan, who has quickly risen through the ranks of the Atlanta PD. But Lex’s job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana, and his best friend and fellow officer Jake, are trapped within the cordoned area. Also quarantined in viral ground zero is 17 year-old Teresa, who is eight months pregnant and now separated from her boyfriend on the other side; Katie Frank, an elementary school teacher now placed on lockdown with her entire class, including her young son; and CDC researcher Dr. Victor Cannerts, the doctor who initially made the controversial call to quarantine the area and is now racing to find a cure for the virus.
On the outside, Dr. Sabine Lommers is leading the government efforts to contain the outbreak, and has asked for Lex’s help in enforcing the cordon – which grows increasingly difficult as the public trust deteriorates. And the public has reason to be wary, as journalist Leo begins unraveling a conspiracy, finding that something doesn’t add up in the official story being told. Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them. But as they begin to gain each other’s trust, hope remains, and on either side of the cordon unlikely heroes will rise.
CONTAINMENT stars David Gyasi (“Interstellar”); Christina Moses (“Starship: Apocalypse,” “Starship: Rising”); Chris Wood (“The Vampire Diaries”); Kristen Gutoskie (“Beaver Falls”); Claudia Black (“The Originals,” “Farscape”); George Young (“Casualty”); Hanna Mangan Lawrence (“Spartacus: War of the Damned”); and Trevor St. John (“One Life to Live”). Based on the original Belgian series created by Carl Joos for Eyeworks, CONTAINMENT is produced by My So-Called Company in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals”) and David Nutter (“The Flash,” “Arrow”).
What do you think? Do you plan to tune in to check out this new TV show? Do you think it will be a hit? Cancelled after one season?

Seriously one of your finest shows, why the hell would you take this off? Engrossed in this show every week and waiting for the next week. DO NOT TAKE THIS AWAY. And for Gods sake stay away from the reality and comedy crap programming.
The thing is, this show might be a bit too much ‘reality’ than most people want to see on TV. Maybe if it was a virus that causes a zombie outbreak can be looked at as nothing, but movies and shows that deal with topics that are reality based, and even ‘possible’ reality based, is just a bit more frightening to see, because something like this ‘has’ happened many times before, over the course of human history, and no one wants to be reminded of that. Overall, the show wasn’t ‘bad’, but the story could’ve been executed a whole lot… Read more »
Ever watch John Carpenter’s Escape From New York? City cordon off also
with huge wall to keep out the “infected”
Containment looks great but hope it does not turn into a “soap opera”/”reality show” as sides are already set up/or taken and romance will be racked up. Interesting to see how humanity will de-evolve to survive this “end of the world” scenario
Will watch but think is would have been better as a mini-series
I just looked this up and I just finished watching the pilot. It was great! Aother hit CW!
I’m definitely plan on watching Containment! I’m getting excited to watch this new series
Yes I’ll be watching this new series….This can happen & that’s what so scary bout this..People doesn’t believe that things can happen like this well they better get ready cause all of these new virus & germs showing up it can or will happen…
I definitely plan on watching CONTAINMENT! It’s scary to think that things like this can really happen… Especially these days when so many people that shouldn’t be are getting their hands on germs and spores that can wipe out a major portion of our population. Even though it’s against the law, I think that there are branches of every government that is tinkering with biological warfare… And that is not counting the crazy, yet incredibly intelligent people on Earth that want to destroy us because they feel that they have been wronged some way in their life. I think that… Read more »
I want I see this … When is it coming out ! I would definitely watch ….
I’ll be watching wish it was sooner hope it lasts a few seasons
It will probably one run one or two seasons, as usually all the best shows get cancelled. Like Firefly, Dollhouse, and others. Too many idiots only want to watch “Reality TV”. Which I can’t stand, as who wants to watch someone else’s life and their drama? Not too mention numerous reality stars are almost brain dead. The show looks good though! So you can bet I will be one of those watching the night it finally comes out! 🙂 And hopefully the airheads get less TV time this year! Thank you CW for not going the way of the History,… Read more »
Looks amazing, will def be watching!!
It’ll only be one season, normally. Why? It’s actually the remake of a Belgian serie named Cordon, and that was a one season series! You should really watch it, the original version is amazing and so capitvating!
But the original series gets a second season.
The CW? Ugh.. the last thing we watched was the 100 and boy did that get idiotic once the parents got there… yes, we did stop watching it. Not sure if this will be worth the effort.
Mixed feelings about the series. Should get one season tops.
I will, unless it is zombies. Then I won’t. Of course, if it’s good it will get cancelled anyways.
I’ll check it out and as long as it’s NOT a knock – off of “The Strain” (which I like) and the virus doesn’t turn people into zombies or vampires it might get my positive nod … My opinion, thanks …
