What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the Council of Dads TV show stars Sarah Wayne Callies, Clive Standen, J. August Richards, Blue Chapman, Emjay Anthony, Michele Weaver, Thalia Tran, Steven Silver, Michael O’Neill, and Tom Everett Scott. Scott Perry (Scott) is a loving father of five who has his entire life’s plan thrown into upheaval by an unexpected health scare. He and his wife, Robin (Callies), call on a few of their most trusted friends to step in as back-up dads to help guide and support his growing family – just in case he can’t be there to do it himself. They include Scott’s most loyal friend, Anthony Lavelle (Standen); Scott’s tough-love AA sponsee, Larry Mills (O’Neill); and Doctor Oliver Post (Richards), Scott’s dedicated oncologist and his wife’s dearest friend. Scott’s kids include adult daughter Luly (Weaver), son Theo (Anthony), son JJ (Chapman), and adopted daughter Charlotte (Tran). Together, this group discovers that there’s more to being a father than anyone could do alone — and more to being a family than they ever thought possible.

Will NBC cancel or renew Council of Dads for season two? NBC clearly would like this series to become the new This Is Us but those are big shoes to fill. The premiere didn’t do very well and the second episode did much worse but, we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. I can NOT believe this show is being cancelled. The storylines, the acting were amazing. I could think of so many shows they could cancel. Totally ticked off. As are many of my friends.
Although the characters were a bit contrived, each one ticking a socially relevant issue, in time, they became people I cared about. This show deserved a second season to explore the next chapter one year after the death of Scott. I also am disappointed with last year’s cancelation of the VIllage . I will be reluctant to start another series next season, for fear once again. I will become invested in the characters only to have the series canceled after only one season. Trust level is low. Please don’t cancel this show. I thought it was a show about family. My husband just passed away and I started watching not realizing what this show was centered on. It made me feel all my emotions, helped me sort out my feelings and understand death of my soulmate, bestfriend, love of my life! This show was my therapy, I looked forward to Thursday night. It was a different type of show. Especially now, blending a big family, young old, black and white. Great show!!!
Would love to see another Season of Council of Dads, my whole family loved that show.

This show was so good. They always get you hooked then cancel, guess they always let money come first. why cant you give it a chance.

Please do not cancel Council if Dad’s. It is entertaining., enduring and so relatable. The characters each have their own personalities, and so does Cowboy!! It is such a great show for many ages. I am close to 60 , and looked forward to watching in on Thursdays. I have so many friends that watch and love this show. It is different and not the same medical, police, fireman show. Really please reconsider. Don’t leave us hanging!!!!

Please consider renewing council of dad’s! my husband passed away November 28, 2019 although when I first watched the show and not knowing the atoey lune agesd of time, my heart was heavy, confused and emotions raging! I ended up loving the show!!I laughed some, i cried a lot but it has been super helpful for me and my kids understanding and processing the death of a loved one and having great support team! Please, please consider renewing the storyline is powerful!
I am super disappointed that this show is being cancelled. It was the one show I looked forward to every week. Great storyline and endearing. I’m wondering if it started at 9:00 if more people would be watching it. 8:00 can be a busy time in families lives and most things needed to be completed in the day are done by 9:00 and it’s time to sit and enjoy a show such as this. Please, please renew!!
You should not cancel council of dads it’s one of the best shows on.
Please reconsider renewing this show . Great story line and good acting. So many other shows on TV not as good.
