What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the Council of Dads TV show stars Sarah Wayne Callies, Clive Standen, J. August Richards, Blue Chapman, Emjay Anthony, Michele Weaver, Thalia Tran, Steven Silver, Michael O’Neill, and Tom Everett Scott. Scott Perry (Scott) is a loving father of five who has his entire life’s plan thrown into upheaval by an unexpected health scare. He and his wife, Robin (Callies), call on a few of their most trusted friends to step in as back-up dads to help guide and support his growing family – just in case he can’t be there to do it himself. They include Scott’s most loyal friend, Anthony Lavelle (Standen); Scott’s tough-love AA sponsee, Larry Mills (O’Neill); and Doctor Oliver Post (Richards), Scott’s dedicated oncologist and his wife’s dearest friend. Scott’s kids include adult daughter Luly (Weaver), son Theo (Anthony), son JJ (Chapman), and adopted daughter Charlotte (Tran). Together, this group discovers that there’s more to being a father than anyone could do alone — and more to being a family than they ever thought possible.

Telly’s Take
Will NBC cancel or renew Council of Dads for season two? NBC clearly would like this series to become the new This Is Us but those are big shoes to fill. The premiere didn’t do very well and the second episode did much worse but, we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. I am so sad they canceled this show! It was about events that people might actually go through and it was heartfelt. They always cancel great shows and leave on the stupid ones!!! Please bring it back!
Please renew! It had no chance-during a pandemic and several weeks off. This show has depth and beautiful acting.
I am so disappointed that Council of Dadsh has been canceled. I absolutely loved this show from the first episode and looked forward to seeing it each week. I think NBC is making a big mistake. They should continue this show and renew it for a season two.
Please renew Council of Dad’s. This is a well written show with so much emotion and diversity. A great family show that I look forward to each week. COVID has been a difficult time, please try one more season!

Please don’t cancel Council of Dad’s I like it better than This is Us. The show is different and I think a great idea to assist families thru crisis. Covers a lot of controversial topics that people face in today’s world.
I am very disappointed that a wonderful show like this is cancelled. This show deals with real life situations including racial and sexual orientation. The networks then renew some of the garbage that is on TV instead of this is very disappointing. Jay…
Please give Council of Dads another season. It’s a show that will grow on the audience as they become more familiar and invested in the characters. We love this show and the cast is an ensemble that will do wonderful things together!

Please do not cancel Council of Dads. I looked forward to watching it every Thursday. I like This is Us but give this another season. It really has a good story – bad decision to cancel. There are not many good programs on now, this has potential.

Council of Dads should be renewed. It shows grief after losing a spouse, and how family should come together in that grief. Please give this show a second season and chance. As a widow myself, we need more shows like this.
