Tonight, USA Network airs the series finale of White Collar and fans could also be seeing the end of Covert Affairs as well. The latter series hasn’t been renewed for a sixth season yet and the show’s dropped way down in the ratings.
On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division (DPD). The show’s cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.
The fourth season of Covert Affairs averaged 2.27 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The current season has been averaging 1.53 million and a 0.3 ratings — a drop of 49% in viewership. It’s USA’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo.
At this point, it seems likely that USA will renew the show for a sixth and final season, perhaps a short one, to wrap things up. If the cable channel does bring it back, the show may look very different. TV Guide teases that tonight’s finale will feature a death of one character and close calls for some others. This will lead multiple people to making some life-changing decisions.
What do you think? Would you like to see Covert Affairs return for a sixth season or is it time for USA to cancel it?
UPDATE: USA has decided to cancel Covert Affairs after five seasons.
I hope this wasn’t the series ending. To many questions left unanswered. Lile is Auther runnung for senate seat. Is annie coming back to cia. What promotion did joan get. Please have a season six big back auggie. Auggie & Annie work well together. Mcquaid should be killed off. Or have his wife come back to him.
PLEASE RENEW! We need more Annie and McQuaid. If you don’t renew this show, then make a new Annie and McQuaid show. Don’t care about the others and bring back Eyal. Annie/McQuaid/Eyal would be the greatest spy team with Belenko as asset. We need some real spy stuff against the Russians.
please continue the series. I don’t want to see it cancelled
Definitely Renew ! Maybe if USA spent more effort marketing its tried and trued “Characters Are Welcome” enjoybable scripted dramas, instead of following the herd of other cable stations running hideously phony reality shows and “dark” (translation: awful) dramas that supposedly appeal to the infamous 18-49 age group, it might actually gain back some of the audience it once had.
Well said. Unfortunately, TedonTV was going on in twitter about how the network can’t help but respond to demands of ‘a really hot reality star’ and how the market has to keep up or change. So there you have it. Mindless consumers and producing for THAT infamous demo group is the end of interesting and entertaining scripted drama, in favor or commercializing. Ugh!
Please please RENEW!!!! Please it can’t end like that we need more, please seeing if Annie and McQuaid get married would be fantastic!!
Please Renew !!! keep McQuaid please ….his integrity and loyalty to Annie is exactly what makes this show decent now. His character is noble .He is a man.Not wishy washy and yet caring and sensitive. He’s not a push over though.Very respectable man. There aren’t many male role models on TV like that any more. It’s nice to see that the writers wrote this kind of character in the story. Don’t kill him off. Really, don’t ruin something good like that.Expand on it…you would be surprised at the popularity of this show if you gave your characters more integrity like you have given… Read more »
Yes, McQuaid is perfect for her, and much more honorable than grumpy Auggie, who has barked his way through the season. Does he ever say please or ask his assistants nicely for anything? He used to be so sweet too.

I bought all of the previous seasons so I could watch them again. The first 4 seasons were great. I especially loved the chemistry and funny banter between Annie and Auggie. Their love scenes were believable and so was their professional relationship. The writers made a bad move in separating them in season 5. I think this is why the ratings fell. I also miss the relationship between Annie and her sister. This made the show relatable to us viewers. We know how siblings care for one another. In season 4 where Annie becomes a harden CIA agent, I believe… Read more »
Great Show! Give it a FINAL season to tie up the loose ends.
The show has been intelligently written, it would be a shame to see it be cancelled!
True show ratings on air dates or watching season marathons at someones house with 30 people can no longer reflect the popularity of shows. Advertisers believing the old rating systems and not the true popularity of a show are throwing their money away.
I love this show. Please renew it for a sixth season in 2015. The characters still have what it takes to work up another season
I hope it comes back! Great finale!
I have been a fan since the beginning and would be very sad to see it end. I, too, tape the series and then watch a lot of shows at one time due to a busy work schedule. I love the cast and hope Auggie decides to stay on the cast in whatever role. Please write and produce a 6th season. I am a loyal fan and will continue to look forward to watching each episode!
Renew!!! We have watched from the begining!
