A couple years ago, NBC aired Crusoe, an adventure series based on the classic Robinson Crusoe novel and character. It was quickly cancelled. Now, the network is trying Crossbones, another adventure series about the same era. Will this one be a success and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled as well? We’ll have to wait and see.
Crossbones revolves around the life of Edward Teach (John Malkovich), better known as Blackbeard the pirate, and his desire to aquire a valuable invention called the longitude chronometer. Others in the cast are Yasmine Al Massri, Richard Coyle, Claire Foy, David Hoflin, Tracy Ifeachor, and Chris Perfetti.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.68 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Crossbones TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for second season?
NBC has a horrible habit of poorly promoting their quality shows and then killing them off before they’ve had a chance to find their audience.
Great show! Please keep it on the air. I am 60. I love the characters, sets, and story. John M. is great as well as the rest of the cast. Thanks for making this.
Great show but I don’t understand why they take such long breaks, networks obviously don’t think like the viewers. They also need to promote the new shows more.
Its airing during the summer for a reason, all bones no meat. Any logical network would can it before the season finale but knowing NBC they will keep it going while their most creative shows get tossed in the gutter.
If you look at the numbers, you have a great dip in ratings every time you take a week off.
Stop taking breaks so people can stay interested in the show. This show is good and should be renewed.
I love this show. great production
and John M. is great to watch
Please renew!! Such a great cast, great acting, beautiful production. My family loves it!!
love this show! but the ratings don’t look so good at this point. hope it would change for the best cause its a really great show.
I watch weekly and enjoy
I do not get why these net works even make TV shows any more if their just gonna start one and put it on hold for two weeks. With how fast today is you must keep reminding the public that the shows are out there other wise they forget and possibly great shows get the axe. And I do know someone out there is gonna say “they need time to make them” and to that I say , if they didn’t have at lest a months worth of viewing (4 episodes) ready to go before the premier of the show… Read more »
This show is worse than Black Sails and it was horrible.
The show is great . . . the time it comes on is it’s only negative aspect for us. Many of the baby boomers go to bed at 9:00 pm., and we are in the Central Time zone to boot. The only way we can watch it is on the computer. Hope NBC makes it an earlier show in the fall.
loved it!!! please don’t cancel this one!

What is piracy without violence? Pirates weren’t feared because they made people laugh.
I’ll give this show time, but if it gets absurd, like Revolution did, then I will stop watching it.
