After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

NO! … I dont want to believe! They could “at least” give it a decent end! They remained several outstanding issues! It is not right! For me it is the best among the three … If the “challenge” was with CSI: NY then … it is absurd that they have made this decision! But … it is impossible to decide to continue next year, for example?! Or.. there are no hope?! This decision has certainly made “angry” ALL of the fans in the world! Including ME!
🙁
CSI Miami imo is the best of the CSI shows. To deny fans and actors/staff a final episode is a pity and shame on CBS. In CBS’s own words “and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.” Sheesh. CBS you had a willing staff and fans that could have made that number much bigger. Only 75 shows hit 200 episodes – Miami could have easily hit 300 episodes, and more.
I cannot believe CBS would just pull the show without any warning and ability for the cast, writers and fans to wrap things up!!! How completely insane! Major fail CBS – why would anyone watch a show on your channel with this as a possible ending after a TEN YEAR RUN! Despicable.
CBS what the heck?, why would you just cut it off like that!. i am a huge csi miami fan. and i would have loved to see how everything ended with the closure’s. CBS your so stupid!.
KEEP CSI Miami and CSI NY CANCEL CSI
Ok CSI and CSI: NY are so boring now compared to CSI miami. Ok yea i get it that CBS dont want to cancel the show that started it all but im sure the rating would go down too if it was placed in the same time slot that CSI miami was put into. And do anyone ever look at CSI:NY ? They really need to rethink this whole thing man and if they do change their mind please take it out of the sunday time slot i mean really people
i would also have liked some closure to the series , like everybody else i feel royally screwed to the bone. maybe cbs will give the hard-core fans a wrap-up show…. hoping=praying.
they should have cancel the original csi crime investagation cause most of the cast are gone and csi:ny wasn’t good, and keep csi miami. the ratings for csi miami changed when they moved it from monday night to sunday night following the football which puts csi miami way later than 10PM in USA but us in canada,it was on time, it didn’t help the ratings in USA cause people work the next day and if the football push the show much later, a lot of them probably didn’t wait to watch it.
I hate it when a network cancels a show that has loose ends! I leaves you blank! What!!!! I like CSI Miami! I am going to miss them. CBS should have at least renewed them for the 11th season so they could get everything wraped up! You know alot of us people out here don’t have those little ratings boxes, cause if we did the show would still be on! CBS why can’t you guys be like NBC, they let “Chuck” go out in style!
Wtf ur not going to have one more season sox we can see what happens with fellow and Callie and the kids and they all go there separate ways at the enf
They should at least have one more season to finish any loose ends and the unsolved cases. wft.
They could had a last show , I been watching it from the begin I can’t believe that you Screwed the fan
I’m a South African and just read about CSI Miami’s cancellation. No goodbye,no closure for shippers.CBS,WTF!The fans are the ones carrying the shows to where they are and this is how you say thanks. All the best to CBS,hope everything you do now fails miserably, you deserve it after how the Miami fans were screwed.
CBS should be canceled ..when you have the March madess. You lost fans.really sad hope the new show flops………no loyalty to good shows.
