After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.

CSI Miami is the best of the CSI series. I can’t believe that CBS is canceling the show. What an injustice! Like some of the other commenters, I watch the show regularly with my husband. There are so many avenues left to cover. I wish CBS would reconsider. This is the only show I program to watch regularly.

I wish they haven’t cancelled the show. I grew up watching this show. I think CBS should rethink their decision and cancel some other show.
What I would’ve liked was to see an ending episode not a season ending episode to see what going to happen in the season opener.. CBS owes it to the viewers and the cast to give us a series finale even if that means just 1 more episode…
I agree with you. Look at shows like Nypd blue, thirdwatch and prison break. they all had their special endings. And with all of them there was sort of peace. Ok they dave the world might give their life for it en then it’s over. But this ending of CSI miami is such crap for a series finale. If they had shot Horatio and the rest take revenge, I would be crying in front of the tv, but at least I would have peace with it.
The problem with this world is everythings half controlled by greed, the other half makes it greed, and by that I mean you have people with 5-6 day a week jobs sitting around with nothing to do , n their job is to come up with new ideas for making profit, when these companies dont need any more extra profits at all. watch the show DO OVER, it was also cancelled, and it has an incredible about of morals n hindsight situations that I couldn’t believe someone one could of written up 15 episodes that were all intelligent and made you think.
The net works cancel the best shows n keep the retarded crap shows like Survivor , American Idol, Desperate Worthless Entitlement ***** Wives. They come up with shows like The Jersey Shore, not only should a show like that not get produced, the kind of people that starred in it, shouldnt even be allowed to exist.
survivos isnt crap, its the only best reality show next to the biggest loser, and they havent canceled the good shows this year, they renewed most of the shows i like, like revenge, parenthood, castle and etc so im happy
really gonna miss the show. everytime they get something good to watch on tv they cancel it. omg they kept the good wife, who really watchs that. i would much rather see horatio, eric and callie solving the crimes of miami. i just can’t understand this decision. it is a lost to cbs.

i think it is a mistake to cancel this program. it was a great show. i couldn’t wait to see it on sunday nights. wish they would rethink this decision
Well there goes another great show, thanks to “Comcast” buying up these stations: “CBS”, “USA”, and “SYFY”!!!! Once they have taken over these networks, they have cancelled so many good shows, even ones that have had great ratings. Now they have taken away “CSI Miami”. What’s next? But yet they leave on “Suits” “Southland” and not to mention TNT has brought back a show that should have stayed in the grave where it was! They brought back, OMG are you ready? “DALLAS”!!! I miss you guys so much , I could not wait for sunday nights to get here. I was mad about the sunday move for 2 years. Thank God there are 232 episodes to watch, is but it is still not the same . Its amazing how attached you can get to a tv show and its cast. Still my favorite of all time!
