Fans of CSI: New York can rest easy. The Friday night series was looking like it might be cancelled but has now been renewed for an eighth season.
Starring Gary Sinise, CSI: NY investigations follows the investigations of a team of forensic scientists and police officers in the Big Apple. It began in the fall of 2004 and currently co-stars AJ Buckley, Anna Belknap, Carmine Giovinazzo, Eddie Cahill, Hill Harper, Robert Joy, and Sela Ward.
CBS moved CSI: NY to Friday nights this season, leading many to believe that it was on its way out. The ratings have declined over the years and naturally took a big hit when it was moved. Still, the show has performed better than most other shows of the night and currently averages a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and more than 10 million viewers.
According to Deadline, the decision to renew came right down to the wire. Contributing factors that pushed it over the edge include the fact that the show has a profitable syndication deal and also does quite well in international sales.
Though the TV series will be back for an eighth season, it’s not decided how many episodes will be ordered. Unlike the others, it may end up being a 13 episodes season.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that CSI: NY will return for season eight?

This is the ONLY good CSI. normal CSI is boring, Miami is just plain stupid.
yes yes yes, so glad the series has been renewed. love the cast. the cast and show are brilliant combo..
I was hoping this was going to be cancelled along with CSI Miami. The whole “CSI” thing has gone on too long and is way over exposed.
I have been a big fan of Gary Sinise ever since Forrest Gump, his support of the troops, and learning of his conservative politics. I noticed in the last episode in his office that he had a picture of Ronald Reagan on his desk, an “in your face” to the Hollywood establishment… way to go, Gary!!
the only CSI left worth watching!
Love CSI: NY – my favorite of the CSI shows. Enjoy Gary Senise and the addition of Sela Ward had made a nice team. A great cast and good story lines. Thought I had seen the end when the last show of season seven was over. HAPPY Me. Also like watching reruns of the show. I’m a fan!
Yay! Love CSI: NY…happy it’s back for another season…CSI: Miami is my second favorite…I watch both (or DVR when I’m not around)…don’t watch the original CSI…never could get into that one…like the cast of NY & Miami much better!!!
Happy news! It’d be nice if Stella came back; not a huge fan of the new woman.
Guess that’s why the finale was left open as to whether sinise quit or not. It seems as those the producers felt they won’t coming back for another season. Which would’ve gave it a good ending. But glad that it’s coming back. It’s a good lead-in for Blue Bloods.
Yep. Glad it has been renewed. CBS would be very smart to order more than 13 episodes. It’s the only REALLY good show on Friday nights with Blue Bloods following it as a good show as well.
I’m happy to hear and I agree with Stacey above, get rid of the original CSI!
Yea!!!! New York is my favorite (certainly better than Miami, which, while I watch and enjoy the characters, has plot lines that are really incredible, in the most negative sense of the term).
I did hear that it WILL go 23, but we shall see.
YES!!! Thankyou CBS! but PLEASE don’t end it after the 8th Season. This is the best CSI show out of all 3. The others are so boring. Get rid of CSI: Vegas if you want. It’s been around wayyy to long . CSI NY<3
I am thrilled! Gary Sinise and Sela Ward just work well together. It’s a great show!
It really seems nothing is destruction proof today and bad news always comes more than good news.
