Fans of CSI: New York can rest easy. The Friday night series was looking like it might be cancelled but has now been renewed for an eighth season.
Starring Gary Sinise, CSI: NY investigations follows the investigations of a team of forensic scientists and police officers in the Big Apple. It began in the fall of 2004 and currently co-stars AJ Buckley, Anna Belknap, Carmine Giovinazzo, Eddie Cahill, Hill Harper, Robert Joy, and Sela Ward.
CBS moved CSI: NY to Friday nights this season, leading many to believe that it was on its way out. The ratings have declined over the years and naturally took a big hit when it was moved. Still, the show has performed better than most other shows of the night and currently averages a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and more than 10 million viewers.
According to Deadline, the decision to renew came right down to the wire. Contributing factors that pushed it over the edge include the fact that the show has a profitable syndication deal and also does quite well in international sales.
Though the TV series will be back for an eighth season, it’s not decided how many episodes will be ordered. Unlike the others, it may end up being a 13 episodes season.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that CSI: NY will return for season eight?

Not only is CSI NY a great show, the Friday night line-up was great!. Starting with A gifted Man (great! one of my favorites of the season), followed by CSI NY (love it and the stories and the characters), ending with Blue Bloods (exceptional acting and great characters built around family and their occupations intertwined with intersting storylines) was a perfectly entertaining evening. I always looked forward to Friday night with 3 very good TV shows back to back on the same channel. CBS is definitely the best overall but I hate the replacement of the BOSS on Friday night… Read more »
My wife and I have missed the CSI New York program. It is the only CSI program we watch.
Of course, I’m glad it has been renewed. It should be renewed for a full season. IMHO it is now the best of the CSI shows.
When Is Csi New Yorks Coming Back On Cbs Can You Tell Me Where Can
Write To Gary Sinise & Carmine Gioveinazzo & Eddie Cahill ?
so gald it wasn,t cacel love this show
My husband and I are big fans. We are so glad it is coming back on. I hate when the networks take a show off with no warning as to what happened. My husband reads the Entertainment Weekly magazine that usually tells us something but it did not have any information at all. Very frustrating.
Can’t believe that CBS would cancel CSI New York without any notification. This is one of my favorite CSI shows. My Friday night TV has not been the same. CSI New York, followed by Blue Bloods what a combination!
please come back on tv i miss u i love me some csi ny.
since Peterson and Dourdan left CSI Las Vegas, I barely try nto catch a show of it, but CSI NY and Miamia have always been favorites, I did like the previous time slot better than Friday nite, hope they rethink the whole idea of ending it, but I’m not a big Ward fan
There are very few “good shows” on TV now days and the all the CSI shows make an evening great to watch TV.. The CSI- New York is a great show to have on Friday evening. Why cancel?? The deversity of the CSI’s make a great series to have going eventhough CSI- Las Vegas has been like a revolving door of actors. Sometimes ratings are not accurate depending on the section of the country the poll is taken and the age groups that are polled.. A lot of these “Sit Com’s” are not worth watching.. Take a look at them..
Love this show…..we WANT CSI New York back on Friday night ….9 p.m. Its the BEST of all the CSI’s……. CSI Vegas has change actors so much that we stopped watching, it just got worse every show..should cancel the Vegas CSI…….CSI Miami is still good and we watch every week……..
I did not watch CSI NewYork at the beginning but soon became a favorite. The cast has sinergy and the plots are usually interesting. I could not believe the show was cancelled. I wondered what was matter with CBS as I had to search the internet to find out why the show was not on Friday at the normal time slot. I guess I ‘missed’ the announcement! 🙁

CSI New York Why did you take it off so soon. I love all the CSI shows and don’t do that drop thing and not let any viewers know. It is not fair to the viewers especially since we enjoy them.
Wish it was on during the week, not Fri. night. Love all of the CSI’s.
If there were only two shows to watch all week, it would be CSI N.Y. & Blue Bloods. How can CBS even think about cancelling them? I can’t believe they are on vacation now, the season’s not over yet. Every year the season gets shorter and shorter to view these great shows.
