Fans of CSI: New York can rest easy. The Friday night series was looking like it might be cancelled but has now been renewed for an eighth season.
Starring Gary Sinise, CSI: NY investigations follows the investigations of a team of forensic scientists and police officers in the Big Apple. It began in the fall of 2004 and currently co-stars AJ Buckley, Anna Belknap, Carmine Giovinazzo, Eddie Cahill, Hill Harper, Robert Joy, and Sela Ward.
CBS moved CSI: NY to Friday nights this season, leading many to believe that it was on its way out. The ratings have declined over the years and naturally took a big hit when it was moved. Still, the show has performed better than most other shows of the night and currently averages a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and more than 10 million viewers.
According to Deadline, the decision to renew came right down to the wire. Contributing factors that pushed it over the edge include the fact that the show has a profitable syndication deal and also does quite well in international sales.
Though the TV series will be back for an eighth season, it’s not decided how many episodes will be ordered. Unlike the others, it may end up being a 13 episodes season.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that CSI: NY will return for season eight?

bring it back…i love csi new york
We hope CSI New York continues. It’s the best of the CSI shows and it’s located in the greatest city in the world!
So glad to find out CSI NY is going to be renewed! We absolutely dislike the reality shows…keep the dramas!!!
A lot of people commenting here don’t seem to notice that this article is dated May 17, 2011… Season Eight is currently airing; we don’t know yet if there’s going to be a Season Nine, but it doesn’t look good at this point.
So glad to hear CSI New York will be returning. It’s a great show. We love watching all the CSI series.
Love CSI New York It is better than the other two!
Glad to hear it will be back on the air…I would like to see a full season..Love the show..Keep up the good work
yes, keep it going!
I was really getting worried when CSI New York was not listed in the TV Guide. It is one of my favorite shows. I will watch it no matter what night it is on and hope they never cancel it.
I love csi new york but should get sela ward out she acts like she knows everythng better than everyone
I cannot wait until CSI NY starts back up it was part of my Friday night alsong with The Gifted Man and Blue Bloods. This is th4e best CSI series and I hope that it is around for a long time
Glad to hear it will return ,most all the reality and dance crap is not worth turning the tv on its time reality went down the tube nothing but garbage along with the would be actors that think they can act .good by to them all…
When will the new CSI:NY program start? We are really missing it from our Friday night lineup. I would hate to see the show cancelled especially without any warning. Gary Sinise and the rest of the crew are awesome. I do find that Sela Wards character comes off as the “all-knowing” person and sometimes makes the other characters looks incompetant. It should be more evenly shared among the characters. There’s not much on for adults on Friday nights.
I am so glad to here that CSI:NY was not cancelled!!!!! I love that show. All the actors are just great. I would not miss CSI:Miami though. Keep all the other ones, they are the best shows on TV. Get rid of the reality(?) shows. They are worthlessly stupid.
I agree 100%
You scared me, when it just disappeared. When is it going to come back and on what night?
Can’t stand the new reallity, dancing and singing slows. Please leave us along with our drrama shows.
