Fans of CSI: New York can rest easy. The Friday night series was looking like it might be cancelled but has now been renewed for an eighth season.
Starring Gary Sinise, CSI: NY investigations follows the investigations of a team of forensic scientists and police officers in the Big Apple. It began in the fall of 2004 and currently co-stars AJ Buckley, Anna Belknap, Carmine Giovinazzo, Eddie Cahill, Hill Harper, Robert Joy, and Sela Ward.
CBS moved CSI: NY to Friday nights this season, leading many to believe that it was on its way out. The ratings have declined over the years and naturally took a big hit when it was moved. Still, the show has performed better than most other shows of the night and currently averages a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and more than 10 million viewers.
According to Deadline, the decision to renew came right down to the wire. Contributing factors that pushed it over the edge include the fact that the show has a profitable syndication deal and also does quite well in international sales.
Though the TV series will be back for an eighth season, it’s not decided how many episodes will be ordered. Unlike the others, it may end up being a 13 episodes season.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that CSI: NY will return for season eight?

We really look forward to the friday night csi ny. It’s one of the best shows on tv.
I can’t believe anyone would even think of cancelling this show.
thank you for not canceling csi-ny. I hope it comes back on friday’s. It was our favorite line up with the Gifted Man, Csi-ny and Blue Bloods
why would you want to concel this show,it is still a very good show to watch, there is so much crap on tv now that it would be one less good show left to watch, thanks for not conceling this show
I am really glad to hear that CSI NY will be coming back. It was our favorite CSI. It always seemed like Friday night TV wasn’t very good until CBS had The Gifted Man, CSI NY, and Blue Bloods all on the same night. We always watched all of them.
I would not like to find out that you have cancelled A GIFTED MAN, CSI NY, and BLUE BLOODS. These are some of the best shows going.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS PROGRAM. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST OF ALL 3 SHOWS OF CSI.
We love CSI New York so leave it alone. There aren’t many good shows like this one to watch.
Please do not change the line up for Friday night. We look forward to having 3 wonderful and interesting shows to watch: The Gifted Man, CSI: NY, and Blue Bloods. What have you done with CSI:NY? Why is it not on?
It’s a great show and surly BETTER than a lot of the others!!
CBS doesn’t have too many nights that grab my attention. If they are not selling sex, than forget it. I enjoyed the Friday night line up. Would hate to see it go. Undercover Boss is the same every week. I can get along without it.
The Friday Nite line-up was great!!! It held your interest and was diverse……Now, not so much!!! We always looked forward to another enjoyable evening on CBS. Please put it back together!!!
It is strange that shows that are good cannot stay on, but shows that are trash can be on forwever. I guess sex just sells better. Thanks
It would really upset me if CSI NY was cancelled, Sela Ward is a wonderful addition. And the rest of the cast are great also , I like the line up of NY CSI, Gifted Man, and Blue Bloods. Please don’t change it. Seems like every time I like something good, it gets cancelled. Sincerely, David,.
I really like csi ny. I had wondered why it wasn’t on & thought maybe it had been cancelled. I would have been very upset if it had. I do enjoy the show very much. thanks for renewing it…..look forward to the next show…
I was glad to hear CSI NY would be coming back – I hope very soon. The Friday night lineup was the best of the week with “A Gifted Man, CSI New York and Bluebloods. We truly enjoy these three shows. Undercover boss just has no interest to us. Besides, Gary Sinese is the best – both in real life and on the series. I also think Sela Ward is a great addition.
