We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

CSI NY is my favorite of the CSI shows. My husband and I love it…please don’t cancel it.
I agree with “Roadkill42” and “Lois”. We are the older generation and soon there will be many more of us. We like to watch TV at night. Please give CSI NY another chance. If any of the CSI’s should go, it is CSI Miami in my book – not very good acting. Gary Sinise is a great actor and director as are all the other members of the cast as actors. If you have to put it on another night, please do so.
As 2 of the 10 million viewers, we say PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep CSI: New York on TV, the one you can get rid of is the regular CSI, Ted Danson does nothing for that show, we NO LONGER watch the regular CSI. But CSI: New York is awesome. PLEASE keep it.. Thank You, James & Dorothy Dornbusch from Kentucky..
i love CSI NY please dont cancel it…it is a highly rated show on a friday night why get rid of it
I understand the rating factor and how it effects tv shows. We really enjoy the show and watch it every fri. nite….it’s one of our favorites. I hope cbs will consider keeping in on for awhile yet and at least one more year. CBS thurs and fri nites are our favorite nites….hang on to it if you can….THANKS
I LOVE THIS SHOW. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL. GREAT CAST, GREAT STORIES
I’ve been dreading the news of the CSI:NY for months; I hope CBS renews it, but I’m not counting on it. Personally, I wish the network would cancel the original CSI, as I now consider it unwatchable, but I know that’s not going to happen.
Not much left on commercial TV. Soon to be one or two less to watch. Reading is a good option!
If the producers want to cancel a CSI series–let them do it to CSI Miami–became a real dude with changes to cast’s manerism–don’t care if I watch it or not
Please do not cancel CSI NY, it is the best of the CSI series by far. Leave friday night alone, could care less about the Boss series, put it back on Sunday. I am a senior, our votes do count.
I love CSI New York and love it even more since you put Sila on it she is perfect and no one is as good as Gary Sinese. If you must cancel one do csi miami or the one ted is on but nor Gary Sinese
Its a shame that good programs get cancelled while all the reality shows with no true meaning stay on. Some of the junk that is on tv really has no meaning but programs with good actors, plots and meaning always go by the wayside Seems the tv has alot of junk with no material that makes sense
Please don’t cancel CSI NY – At the moment it is my favorite of the franchise -especially since Sela Ward joined the cast. The original was great but has lost too many people – especially Grissom – just isn’t the same without him. Ted’s ok, but no match. I watch CSI Miami, but only for the Florida views – it’s ok, but not a fav.
I thought the Friday night lineup was a sure fire winner, with two great NYC shows back to back. CSI NY is the best of the francise with the most realistic and heart warming story lines presented by a top flight cast. I don’t know how CBS can cancel this show.
10 million viewers on Friday nights and you want to cancel it? CBS is still out of touch!! Keep it up and you become as bad as FOX!!
@Lois: they don’t care how much we watch, or even how much we buy. we’re old. we don’t count anymore. they gear everything to the young.
I love CSI NY. It is my favorite of Miami or LV. NCIS and NCIS LA are great, too!
