We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

DO NOT CANCEL CSI NY – if a CSI should be cancelled, it should be CSI Miami!!!!!!!
Keep this show. The actors are terrific and the New York scenes are vivid.
I LOVE this show. It is my favorite CSI show and has been for several years now. I am so disgusted with the loss of favorite characters on the original CSI, that it’s not even funny. Then to go and add Ted Danson…..YUCK! I think the show should be moved to a new night, maybe Thursday and should be renewed for another season.
CSI NY is my favorite of the CSI’s. I will be devastated when it goes off the air for good.
I love the show. I agree with several of the others posting, it is in a wicked timeslot for viewing. If you moved it up an hour, I am sure the ratings would be much better. I think the quality of this show is better than the Miami version. I really like the characters and their development over the years. Keep up the good work!!!
I really liked Friday nights with Gifted Man, CSI New York and Blue Bloods. I look forward to the end of the week because Friday evenings I do nothing but relax. This is the only CSI show that I am and have been hooked on. Let it last another season
We definitly think CSI-NY should be RENEWED. We love it and Gary Sinise is the best.
Folks, You are doing the same thing to this show as you have done in the past;you put in a time slot against shows which have developed a following on another network, then say it(CSI NY) is not doing as well as we hoped; well DUH!!. You have some other shows ie:Broke girl, Survivor,Big bang,Rob which are just place holders. Please sit down with gary and the cast see what their in-put is on how the show could be improved;and do some re-arranging ;the show is good , it shows some of what goes on inside a crime-lab;with out giving away… Read more »
I really like all the CSI’s and record them if I”m not at home. My first choice is CSI Miami and its a draw for the other two. I really don’t know what I would do w/out them. I don’t watch anything but police/detective shows . I watch regliously all of law and order (I know, another channel) but wanted you to understand that I am over 65 and love the police/detective dramas. Thanks for listening…..hang on to CSI, I think Ted Danson has saved the CSI Las Vegas.
CSI New York is the only one I watch. Please don’t cancel it. Gary Sinise is such a great actor, and the rest of the team are so great together. We have been watching this one for years.
I do hope they keep CSI:NY—-it is my favorite, by a long shot! If they have to drop one, drop CSI:Miami—-I quit watching that one over a year ago…a person can only handle so many “drug cartel” themed shows & the acting on that one is the most shallow! I watch the original CSI Vegas once in a while, but it can be quite gory!
I think it should be rewnewed for more seasons. It is a great show that parents and older children can both watch. There aren’t many of those out there.
CSI:NY Is by far the best of the three, if any one should be cancelled, CSI:MIAMI, with
it’s worthless redheaded leader should be the first to go. It makes you wonder how he ever could be considered part of the team. Maybe if he stopped fondling his sunglasses, he could do some work.
I love all 3 off the csi shows watched them for a very long time would hate not too be able too watche them 2 shows. Isnt there any way you can bring it back on weds nights like it was before lot of us loves too watche all of them shows so please dont take it offf get ride of the ones that dont needs too be one like theey race n the surivor shows they dont mean too much as ALL OF our CIS SHOWS DOES THANKS
I really hate to see CSI:NY go, of the three it is my favorite, I would rather see CSI:Miami go first. It doesn’t help matters that they moved it from it’s Wednesday slot behind my most favorite show Criminal Minds and put it on Friday, who does that and expect their ratings to stay up? Anyway, glad to hear it’s not cancelled yet!! I hope when they do end it, Mac and Jo end up together, same with Danny and Lindsey, hopefully they will still be together!
