We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

Please don’t cancel CSI:NY. It truly is the best of the three. If you feel the need to cancel the CSI’s it should be in this order: CSI:Miami, CSI, then CSI:NY.
CSI, NY is one of my very special t.v. shows. Matter of fact all 3 are, you have a good program schedule with this one. I don’t watch CBS on Monday nights because of the inane shows such as 2 dumb girls and the walruses. Tuesday is a good night until Unforgettable and trust me it is, when that one comes on I go to ABC for Body of Proof. Wednesday night is good after 8:00 when Criminal Minds comes on and CSI, Thursday is good when Person of Interest and The Mentalist, but if you remove CSI, NY from… Read more »
They should cancel Miami first…..it’s the worst one of the 3! Bad acting for the most part off the wall actors, just bad.
If a CSI show needs to be cancelled, please cancel Miami. Gary Sinise tops David Caruso in so many ways. We quit watching Miami a long time ago.
my husband and i were very disappointed when we couldn’t find csi ny.please do not end it.we love all the csis……
Why are they canceling the best shows on TV these days. All we get now is junk!!!
I miss CSI NY….If they would STOP moving it around, then maybe the fans will stay with it. I love the whole cast, ‘specially Gary Sinise! All of the cast is superb at what they accomplish each week. I watch CSI Miami & NY more tham the original. Still watch that one but love thses 2 the best. Please keep this one on!!!! And in one place. Thanks
y is csi:miami still on? & if stays on could they PLEASE hurry up the demise of Togo&Rodriguez. besides the show being annoying, they are the most annoying actors of the 3 csi series.
KEEP CSI:NY on. KILL MIAMI or at least those 2 actors.
Gary Sinise is a fantastic actor. The ensemble that he performs along side are far better actors and have remained steadier than those in the other CSI series. CBS has many other “stinker” shows that could certainly go first. I for one don’t even watch CBS on Friday nights now.
I really like this show. I watch it as much as the original CSI show and would hate to see the series be cancelled. (Curses!) If you lose all sense, at least give it a decent sendoff, but even that would be a second-rate solution to what I consider a top-rate show. (The ensemble cast is fantastic.)
Are you crazy. The CSI: Las Vegas is hurting more than CSI:NY. Why did the date and time slot have to change in the first place? I could see CSI:Miami going before CSI:NY.
Please DO NOT cancel CSI: NY. In my opinion, CSI: NY is the greatest out of all three CSI shows. If any of the CSI shows should be cancelled, it should be CSI:Miami. I like how CSI:NY is more about the cases. CSI:Miami is all about Horatio.
Please do not cancel this show. CSI NY is much better than CSI Miami.
Gary Sinise is great. It has become my favorite over CSI (Las Vegas). Please don’t cancel another great show!!
Please do not cancel CSI-NY. I love Gary and Sela,as all the cast .It is the best CSI on the air.Do not watch the others.I am in the 70 age group, not the 18 to 49 age group. And we
Seniors have a lot to say.Keep the good shows on and get rid of “Undercover Boss”.
I am also in the 70 age group and I agree completely. I have been a steady viewer for about 4 years and I think its a great show.
If one show must go then look at CSI Miami…..
