We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

I thoroughly enjoy all 3 CSI shows. They never grow old. Recent addition of Ted Danson and Selma Ward have been great choices. The fellow who plays Walter on CSI Miami should be given a raise. He’s great! I am tired of reality shows ad nauseum and comedies that think they have to be vulgar to get a laugh. To get rid of any of the CSI shows would be foolish. Let’s hope you actually care what your viewer’s think.
please dont take csi ny off the air i love this show cbs should move its night then i love all three of them i wil be very upset if it go off te air
Please don’t cancelle csi/NY ……….. its the only one I watch 🙂 great show love it:-)
Don’t cancel either Csi NY or Las Vegas. Csi Miami is a joke. All the crimes are solved the very day they happen. Who the hell decides that anyway? David (take off my sun glasses) Caruso is over dramatic. Its basically a stupid show with lots of over dramatizing. You will probably keep it on because it has T and A then the other two. They both have good scripts and actors however.
Why would you change the Friday night line up. Undercover Boss isn’t what everyone wants to see. Put it all back like it was before. Get rid of some of the reality shows and less than funny comedy shows.
CSI NY is our favorite of the 3 CSI shows. It’s well-acted, and the cast has great chemistry.
How about giving CSI: NY at least one more season?
I really like the way they solve the crimes. And, besides, I’m a native New Yorker.
Until Sela Ward joined the cast my husband and I didn’t watch CSI NY that much. We now love it and were very disappointed this week when Undercover Boss replaced it. You had s great Friday night lineup. Please don’t mess with it!
Keep this show on the air. I think it’s the best of the 3 CSI shows!
I will love to have CSI: NY on forever, but I will love another year if it’s possible. I love the cast and the way they carry theirselves on the show. I give all the utmost respect.
please don,t stop csi n.y.
I am a fan of CSI NY and the original CSI though I didn’t care for it without Grissom am getting to like Ted Danson. He grows on you. Don’t take any of them off the year am sorry the only people that seem to matter in polls are the younger people. CBS has the best shows please don’t ruin it
If you want to cancell one of the CSI’s, CSI Miami can go any time. David Caruso, mr expressionless monotone is a real pain.
Unfortunately, I am also outside the “DEMOGRAPHIC” that the networks rely on. But I have always enjoyed all the CSI’s and especially CSI NY. I would hate to see this one end. I looked forward to Friday nights with CSI NY and Blue Blood. Please DO NOT cancel the show. There are not to many good shows on, especially Friday nights when the “DEMOGRAPHIC” viewing area is out partying.
I don’t think CSI NY should be the one that is canelled. Our of all the CSI shows this is the only one we watch. I loved the Friday night CBS lineup just as it was. It was a great way to relax after a long week.
