We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

I love CSI New York and agree that if any CSIs are to be cancelled it should be CSI Miami. Vegas CSI is also one I never miss watching.
I love all the CSIs they are my favourite shows, so disappointed CSI NY went off the air without notice. Very poor CBS
I love CSI NY.If one had to go, it would be CSI Miami. I have gotten in the habit of not watching because I watch Sunday Night Football.
I strongly urge you to leave CSI NY on the air.
As so many others have already written: If the feeling
Is that one must go then dump CSI MIAMI!!!
Please also consider bringing the Friday night line up back to the way it was and f ind another place for the boss
CSI NY is among the top 3 CBS shows.
CSI NY is the ONLY CSI we watch…..used to watch Las Vegas but once Petersen left wasn’t the same. We really like CSI NY; Gary and Sela are wonderful together! If you’re taking vote…..I vote for CSI NY!
It is the BEST of all the CSI shows. I love all the characters especially Gary Sinese. I am almost 70 and hope it returns for another season.
The only CSI show I watch or will ever watch is CSINY.
It works because of a great cast. They make the show fun, heartwarming and believable.
Gary Sinese is one of the most sincerely believable actors in the business.
If the show goes, the only CBS program worth watching is “CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood”. For the rest of my entertainment I go to Cable!
I’m in your demographic (35) and I can’t believe you would consider taking CSI NY off the air, if your going to take something off take CSI Miami, that red head thinks to much of himself and I can’t stand watching him **** his head and take his sun glasses on and off, he is a real jerk
i like csi-ny and csi-miami best now since so many regular people have left the csi-vegas show. i hope they all come back.
Keep CSI: NY. Dump the other two. CSI: Miami is too far over the top. It’s all bright; bright sun, bright bodies, bright teeth. No real thinking or interaction between the actors. It’s all so obviously forced and fake. DUMP IT, NOT CSI:NY.
I’m 65 and love CSI NY and Gary Sinise…It’s my favorite show…Very disappointed when I realized it wasn’t on.
I fight for my meals.
Not literally… but I would for the opportunity to keep watching CSI: NY. We are in the target demo, buy the advertisers’ products and never miss an episode. Not that CBS follows these chat boards, but if the execs ARE watching, folks: You’ve done an exceptional job with this show. Do. Not. Let. Go.
I love CSI NY. I cant believe you would even consider canceling it. I also love CSI Vegas. I cant decide which is my favorite. Never liked CSI Miami, I dont like ANY of the characters, especially the red headed lead. Take that one off if any.
I love CSI NY. Get rid of the CSI Miami. It is awful and what normal person always talks to you with his head turn on sideways.
