We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

Leave CSI NY and get rid of CSI Miami. Miami has lost it appeal but I really enjoy my Friday evenings with the 3 show lineup they have this season. They can certainly get rid of Undercover Boss and bring back CSI NY. How do you compalin to the network??
CSI Crime Scene Investigations should be the first to go!! After Gary Dourdan (Warrik Brown) was killed, I lost some interest in the show, but kept watching. Then William Petersen was gone and now Marge, and that idiot Ted Danson is on the show?? No woner the ratings are still falling!!! CSI las Vegas was the first of the three, and should be the first to go, all the best actors are gone anyway! Please leave SCI NY alone!!
I agree with the above opinion. My friends and I LOVE CSI New York; the cast is great, especially Gary Sinise. The show has class as well as good storylines. If a CSI show has to go, make it the MIAMI one; most of their shows center around drug lords, gangs, etc. and have become boring. KEEP CSI New York.
CSI: New York is the best of the CSI shows. It’s ratings declined because they moved it to Friday nights. Also, please stop shoving Survivor down our throats…mix it up a bit…maybe give us an extra dose of Big Brother and cut back on Survivor. Big Brother is much more enjoyable to watch.
I love CSI-NewYork a lot better than CSI-Miami; which has become in my to stupid to watch; half the time it doesn’t make sense. I hope they keep CSI-New York at least one more year. I think most of the 2011-2012 season of new shows do not make the grade. Joannie Mattoon
Please renew CSI New York for as long as the actors want to work. If you feel you have to take some of the CSI shows off the air, do away with the Miami and or the Las Vegas versions. The one from Miami with David Caruso and company has never been even remotely realistic. (the woman running up and down the beaches in 5 inch heels, etc., Caruso in his stupid stance with his head cocked sideways.) And the one from Las Vegas has gotten really old. But, the one from NY stays pretty current with what is happening… Read more »
Haven’t watched the original CSI in years, but do enjoy CSI:NY. Hope it doesn’t get cx’d.
I so agree, get rid of Miami,,, New York has the classiest people, and the ones that seem more true to character… We quit watching miami 2 years ago, and csi / las vegas, with ted dansen, come on….. its a joke…… …. we love Sela Ward and Gary Sinise, its the one
friday night show my husband and i look forward to watching together……
listen to your public viewers for once…. keep CSI NEW YORK!!!
Are you kidding me? CBS finally put together an entire evening of quality programs and now want to cancel CSI NY ? They will most likely lose the whole Friday audience. They should be honored that Gary Sinise, Sela Ward, and the rest of the gifted cast have committed their collective talent to this series. If ratings are down perhaps the writers could explore expanding the story line a bit i.e. providing more insight to the characters personal lives and how working in the field of forensics shapes who they are as individuals. This is not to say “more skin,… Read more »
i agree totally with above comment from lynda. please dont end csi ny. i love it and would rather see csi miami end or the original csi.
I agree KEEP CSI NY you can get RID of CSI Miami!!
Please keep CSI on the air. I really looked forward to Friday nights. The original CSI has gone downhill especially since Ted Danson and Elizabeth Schu came on board.
Blue Bloods is a very good show and the two together made for an enjoyable Friday evening.
I’d really be upset if csiny is canceled, because there’s not many programs that I enjoy watching any more.
I miss CSI: NY on Friday nights. I feel the same way as Lynda. Who wants to see A Gifted Man.!!! Ugh!!!
I agree with everyone else here that wants to KEEP CSI NY and get RID of CSI Miami!! Have always liked Gary Sinise and Tom Selleck and hubby and I always look forward to Friday nights now to see them one after the other. Blue Bloods is also a great show. The rest of the cast of NY is also great, although I missed Melina Kanakerades at first, but Sela Ward has bone an admirable job of stepping in. As for Miami, don’t even bother watching it anymore.
CBS, PLEASE KEEP CSI NY!!!
