We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

I agree. I love to watch all the CSI’s, I do not want to see any of them go. I completely agree with another person that TV is worried about the younger people too much. Also what is up with the Shows not coming back on until March.?
typical……if it doesn’t play to the “18-40 demographic, it shouldn’t be seen by anyone. Maybe there are people over 40 with a pulse who enjoy a show NOT aimed at the 18-40 demographic. of all of the CSis this is my favorite. vegas became a snooze years ago, and it is still here, and Caruso’s monotone, and non expressions became boring after the 1st year. They should go. And while we are at it why not leave a show on one night and the same time slot instead of moving it so no one can find it……hello??? If we knew… Read more »
What are they thinking putting undercover boss in place of CSI NY? OI have not found anyone who understands this. Undercover Boss Is the same touchy freely show every week. We tired of it by the third show. CSI NY is the best yet with Cela Ward.
Nina Tassler should go instead of good shows. She’s a main part of the reason Moonlight was taken off….and now CSI: NY is in trouble? The network needs to quit flip-flopping shows to different nights. Most of us have dvr’s and are quite capable of dvr’ng more than one show and then watching at our leisure.
I agree, I hate the new line up with Undercover Boss, it was great before. Love CSI New York. Leave New York CSI alone.
On another note, the Gifted Man is great, but just a little unrealistic, he just had hernia surgery with no sedation and then performed a brain surgery all in the same episode.
Don’t cancel CSI: NY!! I think it’s the best of the 3! Honestly, if you think you need to start getting rid of the CSIs, start with Vegas. That one’s been kind of going down hill since William Peterson left…
If any CSI show should be canceled it should be Las Vegas. New York is my favorite of all of them.
I think all the CSI shows should go back to the nights they were on. I think the ratings are down on CSI New York because you put it on Fridays, young kids watch the show too, but a lot of them go out Fridays. I would like to know what the ratings were when it was on Wednesdays. I liked it better when CSI Miami was on Mondays, CSI New York Wednesday, and CSI on Thursdays. That probably worked for a lot of us CSI loyal watchers. I say put them back on the days they were on. I… Read more »
You have got to be kidding – CSI NY possibly to be cancelled – get real! With all the crap on TV, this was one of those shows that I really look forward to watching. The cast of characters was awesome – love it. Typical. One less enjoyable show to watch – unbelievable! Please re-consider for all the CSI NY fans out there. You may want to consider another age group beside the younger demographic for a change.
Please don’t take away our favorite CSI show, the wife and I never miss a show !
Please do not cancel CSI-NY it is my favorite of all the CSI series followed closely by CSI-Miami.I do not watch CSI Las Vages and have not watched it since about the 3rd or 4 th season so it should go first if any of them have to go.
CSI-NY is the best of the three. Ted Danson has ruined CSI-Vegas. Caruso long ago ruined CSI-Miami.
CBS always gives my favorite shows the “kiss of Death” and schedules them on either Friday night when it is a given that viewers will drop off–OR they schedule them on Sunday night during football season and I can’t even program a recording since the games run over and disrupt the scheduling. My bet is that they are setting up a self-fulfilling prophecy so they can say, “Well…the ratings have dropped off and…blah blah blah.” I for one will let my wallet do the talking. What I hear CBS telling me is that they don’t want me to use or… Read more »
Seriously who in the world put Undercover Boss on instead of CSI NY and not let anyone know whats going on. You have lost a loyal fan on Friday Nights. I will tape Blue Bloods and Gifted Man they are both excellent shows, I will watch Fox. CSI Miami, NY and CSI should be together. CBS is going to lose loyal fans. CSI Miami should not be on Sundays put it back to Monday nights.
Please don,t cancel CSI NY if they cancel any it should be the CSI Las Vages that show has no real story . Not right since the Bug guy left. Get rid of undercoverboss Where have the CEO. been not in our world. I like the Friday night line-up.These actors are great It,s enjoyable to watch
