We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

NOOOOOO – don’t cancel CSI:NY!!!!!!
How can you possibly be thinking of cancelling CSI New York and leaving CSI Miami on television? CSI Miami SUCKS!!! I have tried to watch that show an I have to turn it off because of all the inferior acting!! It seems like all they want to do is pose for the camera!! Brian Dennehey should of thrown Horatio off the mountain when he had the chance in the movie First Blood!! The acting world would have been a better place for everyone involved!! Can’t believe you are seriously thinking of cancelling this show! With New York and Blue Bloods,… Read more »
i think they are on crack about the rating all the csi to me have my rating of 100% rating anything they should take off is three and half men that show sucks tell you right now if you take off any of the csi i will not watch 13 again they dont know a great movie when they see one they always keep crapie movie on let the people vote not you and i will vote for all of them to say on for good
No do not cancel the series, i am so tired of reality tv, I love the CSI shows all of them, I just hope the writers can come up with better scripts for the two most likely under the gun CSI NY & CSI Miami I have watched them since they started.
I understand bussiness and that with every bussiness its existance is based on making money, but I find it strange tha the networks seem to always find excuses to cancle some of the best Dramas on TV, yet some of the most rediclious shows like all the 30 min. sitcoms seem to stay on air forever. Sometimes they pull great shows off the air after only a few epsoides without ever giving it a chance to catch on with the vewing audiances. Othertimes its an excuse like production costs were too high and the network was unable to continue to… Read more »
My wife and I like the show . We look forward to watching it every week. It is much better than CSI Miami. We are not in the age bracket that you mention. We are much older. We are not realty show people. You should remember that our age bracket is important also. I bet if you put a reality show on Friday night it would have less watchers.
My husband, son and I watch all the csi’s. We record them and watch them within a couple of days if we are unable to watch them on real time. I am not a T-V watcher, but I do make sure to watch all three of these shows each week that they are on. So please don’t cancel them.
I love the show. This is the only show I watch every week. Gary is great, along with the rest of the crew. It would be a loss to cancel this show. The audience knows the characters and likes the storylines. Please keep it coming
I agree with Juanita, keep CSI NY and take CSI Miami off or get rid of Horatio. He has to be the worst actor I have seen on a series.
Agreed with Juanita & Judy. Cancel Miami, give New York another chance.
No! Don’t take CSI NY away. Take CSI Miami. I can’t stand to watch that on at all.
Please don’t cancel CSI NY. It is one of the best shows on TV now. I DVR it when I am not able to be home.
Don’t cancel CSI NY, it’s just too good. Gary is one of the best in the actor’s business. He is a multi talented actor. The orginal CSI has been missing good episodes and I think due to the fact that William Peterson left the show. He made that show. Keep CSI NY on along with Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Bing Bang Theory and Unforgettable. Although CBS will do what it wants but hopefully they will conclude the show with respect and not just take it off without giving the actors and the fans some closure. They are really bad at… Read more »
Love Gary & crew. Watch it every week, would miss it if it went. CBS will do what it wants, but hope it concludes respectfully & with no heartbreak.

Do not cancel CSI NY. The show is great. I look forward to the Friday lineup of CSI and Blue Bloods. Take some of the other mindless garbage off the air!!!!
