We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

One more season! Really it shouldn’t end I have been watching it since the first episode and I would hate to see it end! But at LEAST one more!
I’d hate to see this one end. I really like the characters and the plots. I still watch the original CSI but it isn’t the same anymore and I haven’t watched CSI: Miami in years (don’t like the lead). I think CSI: NY has handled cast changes really well and I was VERY disappointed when they moved it to Friday nights. It’s in a hard time slot to make sure I see it, usually I end up watching it On Demand afterwards. I think CBS has had some real losers that they’ve tried to get everyone to watch. I’m spending… Read more »
Of all the CSI’s I like CSI – NY the best. The plots and personalities are as diverse as NYC. It is a good lead in to Blue Blood, perhaps my favorite TV series. I cannot stand the gifted man. It is a an arrogant House blended with Marcus Welby/Hawkeye liberal aggi prop and the ghost whisper. CSI – Miami, is eye candy with very little S unless the S stands for Sex or Sadism. Caruso has killed more people in one season than any real cop could in a 30 year carreer. It has nice eye-candy but CSI-Miami is… Read more »
The only one left that I like and CBS can take most of the blame for lower ratings because of the Friday night move. At least bring it back for another year and give it a chance on another night. (not Saturday or Sunday either) If you need to dump one, dump Miami, it’s sucked for years now anyway.
Too bad – it is the only one we watch regularly any more. I stopped watching Miami a while ago because of Sunday time slot. The original CSI is OK but still NY is our favorite.
Bring it back! I agree with others it’s the best one and the best cast!
It’s one of my favorite shows. I would watch it again next season.
It would be ashame if they do away with CSI NY. I rather watch any CSI rerun over Survivor 33 or whatever number their on now!
If they’re getting rid of one, make it the stupid CSI Miami. Ick!!!
I really like this show. You wanna cancel a CSI…make it Miami. I really like the other two.
Keep csi ny, I agree with Tiffany Connolly of the three CSI the N Y one is the one to watch. LV is not the same, and Miami is odd for some reason.
I love CSI: NY It’s my favorite of the 3. For some reason CSI isn’t the same anymore and I have NEVER liked CSI:Miami it’s just wierd. I hope it goes on for a bit long but like all shows they start to lose something after awhile.
Renewed I love this show as well as the other two.
How can CSI NY be on Hiatus and CSI Miami still be on the air? NY has much better acting, I cannot even watch Miami it is so bad, can someone explain?
too bad. I watch all three CSI programs they are great will hate to see CSI: NY be cancel
