Last year, it looked like The Secret Circle was a perfect match with The CW’s most popular series, The Vampire Diaries. Unfortunately, the ratings dwindled as the season progressed.
Despite having a very strong and compatible lead-in, by the end of the season, Secret Circle wasn’t doing any better than some of The CW’s other shows. The network cancelled it.
This season, it looks like Beauty and the Beast is going to have a similar story. It debuted to a 1.2 demo rating and is currently pulling in just a 0.6 rating. If this continues, the show’s averages will keep dropping — faster than Secret Circle’s did.
Unless the ratings turn around, I suspect Beauty and the Beast will be cancelled after one season. To date, The CW has ordered only 13 episodes. They commissioned three additional scripts but there’s certainly no guarantee that they’ll have them produced.

These charts incorporate the daily final CW show ratings (reported by Nielsen) and are sorted by the 18-49 demographic. Network advertisers typically prize those viewers most and so will pay more to reach them. There’s lots of information that the networks take into consideration when cancelling or renewing a TV series but the ratings are the biggest factor. The higher the ratings, the better chance that the show will be renewed. And yes, they take it into account when a show airs on Friday nights

I love the new Beauty and the Beast. I think it is imaginative and I really think the tension between Beauty and the Beast is excellent. Every time I like a show it is cancelled and the ones that are left on often stink. Perhaps you could just make them for Internet only viewers if the ratings on tv are bad?

I never got into the Secret Circle, but I LOVE BB. I watch TVD more often, now, because it precedes BB. I hope Beauty and the Beast get more seasons!

Get rid of all shows with less than a mil views and bring back THE SECRET CIRCLE!! It left off really good… and should have NEVER been cancelled. Its not like its a 6 season show… its based off 3 books. so why cant they give us 2 more seasons… PLEASE CW… BRING BACK THE SECRET CIRCLE!!! PLEASE!!!

THIS SHOW IS A HUGE INSULT TO THE FANS OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES AND SHOULD BEN CANCELLED IMMEDIATELY!!!! No one should re-do Catherine and Vincent!!! It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t think so the show is very much unique doesn’t have to cancel since the cast is quite good reversing …..
i think the CW should have kept the secret circle.in BATB i don’t really care about the characters and its not like i need Kat & Vincent together in camparsions to Cassie and Adam
Poor Nikita and Emily Owens. They are doing the worst and they are my favorite new shows. Also, I can’t believe people are still into the Vampire Diaries when every episode is pretty much the same and it has the soapy aspect which makes it seem like it will never end.
It was a mistake to cancel The Secret Circle, and this is coming from someone who has watched every episode of both shows shown so far. Even if Beauty and the Beast improves by leaps and bounds in terms of quality (as The Secret Circle did, going from awful to amazing), I still think I’m never going to get over the fact that the “Beast” is a hot guy with a scar. I am really enjoying Beauty and the Beast. I was a big fan of the original series, and this one is certainly not the same thing, but it does share many of the elements that I loved about the original, and as a series on its own, I am enjoying the dynamics between the main characters as well as the element of an ongoing mystery regarding both Vincent and the murder of Catherine’s mother. I really like the show Beauty and the Beast. I am tired of see bloody vampires every where. I also liked the new and different twisted that was taken to tell the story of Beauty and the Beast. In a way in reminds me of what many people are learning to deal with when their love ones return from the military, they have changed (PSD). I totally agree w/u. I cannot wait 2 c the show on thursdays, as soon as its over I want it 2 b next Thursday so I can watch the next episode! I have not seen the origional show, but I seriosly enjoy B&B! It is modern in a sense that yes u can physically look good, but emotionally feel like a “beast”. I disagree.l Love this show. I think the person saying he is not a beast but someone with issues. Vampires has blood dripping from mouths and that show has been on at least 4 years. Not ever show is for everyone. I just started watching CW shows. THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST IS GREAT.
The Secret Circle was an amazing show. I guarantee it would have had more viewers in the future. All these new CW shows look awful. Always cancel the good ones. The storyline for TSC was getting good too. Really wanted to see those four new characters coming in. B&tB isn’t going to get another season. Not with those ratings. Only reason TSC was cancelled is because it was too expensive to produce. If it wasn’t, definitely would have been renewed.
I don’t like this show at all. The is called Beauty and the BEAST their is no beast! Just some good looking guy with anger issues. Even though im only a teenager i saw the orignal series and i love it and the movie but this show is running it for me. The plot isn’t that good i hate the beast it just have to stop watching it.
