This will be the first full season of Dallas without Larry Hagman’s JR Ewing. Can the cast and producers continue to draw viewers and solid ratings without their quintessential bad guy? Will the new Dallas be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned to find out.
Airing on Monday nights, Dallas continues to follow the machinations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.92 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: The second season of the new Dallas averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.67 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Dallas series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Update: TNT has cancelled Dallas after three seasons. Details here.
Dallas being cancelled. That was such a travesty. The best show they could ever pick on. Well, this is the new TV, folks. Rotten as it is. It contains few gems. No wonder people are pulling the plug more than connecting up. Connect up to what? The Big Bong Theory et al? I think not.
These days, the climate in Hollywood and the networks is not even conducive to decent programming. Yet they let the gem of Dallas get away from them…and from us. The complete bucket of crud they replaced it with is a sad statement as to how their minds think. Seems that their control is paramount to them. Just the money…the money…
It’s really too bad that there’ll never be room for a great show like Dallas in this highly biased network/Hollywood combo. I see Dynasty is returning…fat chance unless they totally politicize it. I really mis Dallas. TV will never be the same.
When the ChiComms own Hollywood, I guess we can look forward to those karate movies in prime time. It’s not a good thing for this to happen. Hollywood selling out and has been actors mouthing off like they actually know what their mouthing is just disgusting. Man. I miss the days of Dallas.
Maybe the reason TV is dying is because Hollywood is dying. All the actors are completely nuts. One must assume the rest of the club is too. Dallas, filmed mostly elsewhere might have had a chance to escape their insanity. But probably not. Dallas suffered a big loss. But there are many more losses to come as TV (and Hollywood) quickly falls into the abyss.
I’d love to see a strategy session with the network people and the Hollywooders. How their minds work are a complete mystery…that’s if you think they think like normal people. Trouble is, they don’t. They let their dollars think for them. Clearly there are no thoughts being thought. If there were, Dallas would still be on.
Notice that when Dallas was cancelled, TV started to go down hill? It almost seems like they’re doing a ‘scorched earth’ to TV. TV is rotting it’s so bad now. I fully expect people will drop their TV subscriptions for something better. I am waiting for that something better. But then again…look who’s making all this wonderful crud. Hollywood, Advertising & Networks. What a bunch, eh?
Dallas was a great show. Everyone watched it. Everyone enjoyed it. So TNT’s rating system shot it down, eh? Ever heard of ‘fake ratings’? I wouldn’t be surprised at all that that was the case here.
All surveys say tv watching is down. Well, duh…Who would want to watch all these crummy shows loaded with ads anyway? And they cancel Dallas…Unbelievable insanity ( uh, make that greed).
All of tv watching is way down. It’s no wonder. What with all the crummy, cheaply made shows and chock full of ads, how can anyone say they have a favorite show? It’s just background noise around the house to disrupt boredom. And it doesn’t even do a good job doing that. Shows like Dallas are no more. TV fell when Dallas fell. Seems to me if they brought back Dallas. That would be a good start to return tv to what it was. It was better then than now by far.
When Dallas was on you could at least have a great show to look forward to. These days…maybe the Super Bowl might get my attention…as long as no one starts that kneeling at the anthem BS. Really a terrible slew of crud on TV. So much unwatchable stuff. Bring back Dallas.
All those channels and nothing on worth watching. TV is heading down the toilet because all there is is ads and garbage programs done in the cheapest way possible. We miss the days of Dallas.
Call me a die-hard if you want. But Dallas was better than anything before or since. Especially since. Since Dallas was cancelled we have had the garbage of the world fed to us on the cheap. Commercial times have increased to the point of watching tv without a DVR FF function is virtually impossible. Even the news is bias and fake. What a crummy deal.
Why can’t we have some decent programs to watch? It seems that everything that does play is strictly on the cheap. Cheap stories, morals, duration, longevity…you get it..cheap cheap cheap. Dallas had class. The people who control the shows now are so very limited. TV is being run by substandard people. Real shame.
Dallas was, hands down, the best show on tv. How unthinkable it was to cancel this show. Goes to show that brainless network people are doing a very terrible job. The result is obvious. Just look at their work. We have The Brainless Theory, Wheel of Friction, Family Flood, and…well, the list of their masterpieces are on full display every night. Makes ya want to go to sleep instead.
