It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
I just heard about Dallas being cancelled. Can’t believe it. I have watched the show since the original series and looked forward to watching again. The only reason it isn’t watched by more is that it show be back on CBS.
I am not suprised. After Larry Hagman’s death, I was expecting it. But I am still sad to see it go. I grew up watching the original. On Friday nights at 9, the TV was set to CBS for Dallas.
I was very upset to hear that Dallas is being cancelled. I watched the complete original series on CBS and never missed an episode. I think the new Dallas series has been exceptional with a brilliant cast. It is one of the best shows on TV today. J R Ewing (Larry Hagman) would be pround of what the writers have done with the show. I think a lot of viewers may have thought that if they hadn’t watched the original series they would be lost. This is not the case! The new story lines are great! I think it would… Read more »
Big mistake to cancel. It was a great show. I wont watch TNT channel anymore but definitely will watch Dallas on another channel.
I agree with all who have commented. The show is great. It gives the viewers everything love, family, suspence and drama. I also followed the show back in the 70,80’s. The show needs to be longer and on a major channel. Get rid of Judith Knight she’s terrible and maybe get Sue Ellen to stay sober and be a whole lot stronger. Help!!!! Save the show!!!
I am saddened by the canceling of Dallas. I wanted the original show which I graduated college in 1978. The show is a classic. I agree with one fan that there were a lot of sub-plots and some of them weren’t as believable based on the characters. I was wondering if Pam would get her father Cliff out of jail to help taking back Ewing Global. I agree with another fan that these helper skelter seasons of on again and off again wasn’t truly a fair barometer. I had to really hunt for the show. I’d watch Dallas on any… Read more »
Please dont cancel Dallas
PLEASE don’t cancel Dallas! That is one show I look forward to every week….and I’m so disappointed that it will no longer be on. I agree with Mary….perhaps putting it on a major channel it would draw more viewers. The last show of this season left me sitting on the edge of my seat…..and to find out it will no longer be on was such a disappointment. Please reconsider.
Please dont cancel Dallas, it is the only show i look forward to coming home and watching on Monday night. I send my husband into the other room to watch his football and my daughter and I watch the show. This last season was GREAT and you can’t just leave people hanging on whether or not Chistopher is killed and if Elena’s baby is Nicholas’ or John Ross’. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL THE SHOW!!!!!!
I think they should renew it .I mean come on u put the show on Mondays where it had to compete with Monday night football so most people probably used there DVR it also had to compete with a lot of other top shows even with your charts it done better during season two which was on Wednesday it does t help that you keep changing th . right you air the show people get tired of trying to find there shows leave them on the same night I think you are making a big mistake by not RR Ewing… Read more »
It’s one of the very few shows I’ve watched on TV and always have enjoyed it. I guess advertising dollars speak the loudest. Shame… I wished you didn’t cancel this show.
Well back to HBO, SHOWTime, etc.,etc.. No more TNT for me.
PS: If it’s reconsidered to come back, cut back on the subplots too many.
I watched dallas in beginning 1970s now i see now and waited to see season 4 dont end it with out a good ending because we need to see some good in our mixed up world please dont cancel.
I love to watch Dallas.
Would be sad if it were to not come back
Yes would watch it on any other channels
It’s needs to be longer running. Not 6 episodes and gone for months. Why can’t it run as long as the first one then take a break. Love the show !!!!!!!!!!!!! Put it on a major channel would get alot more viewers and run it longer. Don’t just cancel it. the cast is superb and it’s one of three night time shows worth watching, the other two being Nashville, and Scandal. But they don’t hold a candle to Dallas. Don’t give up follow my advice and you will be a smash hit. I promise!!!!!! To the cast of Dallas… You are… Read more »
I would watch Dallas on any channel – please don’t cancel. Besides, I want to see who the sister of John Ross is
