It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
What a mistake to take one of the best shows off , TNT! We are sick of stupid sitcom shows, and Dallas at least made a person “think” a little! Please reconsider a next season and put it on a major channel this time! We were surprised that the “new” Dallas really did live up to the old one, more back-stabbing (JR would be proud) by the young actors and Bobby and Sue Ellen added their wonderful roles to the whole picture. Please, oh please reconsider!
I absolutely Love Dallas! Please reconsider and bring it back to TV. I will watch it on any channel that picks it up! Best nightime show on TV!
I am very upset that Dallas is cancelled, especially with the cliff hanger they had,I watched all of the Dallas shows and taped them, very unhappy with TNT
Its not easy following in the footsteps of a show that was so hugely popular in the late 1970’s, but this was a well scripted show, with good actors and an interesting plot line
and it will be missed.
Yes I would watch it on another channel. It should be aired and probably on another channel
Please reconsider the cancellation of Dallas. I would watch this on any channel I have available. Truly enjoyed this show along with my entire family.
Please do not cancel dallas. It is so good and the story line is better then ever! It is my favorite show on right now. Please reconsider for another season.
My husband & I are avid fans of Dallas. We have watched every episode. We are deeply saddened to hear of it’s cancelation. If the show were moved to another station, we would most definitely follow. We need more John Ross!
The new Dallas was as good or better than the first time. TNT at least owes us a closure show. You cant just leave it the way it ended. When soap operas end they end with conclusions. How about a 2 hour special TNT.,!!!!!
I love Dallas. I am so sad it’s been canceled. I really enjoyed all the season. I hope the powers that be will reconsider bringing back one of my favorite shows. We have relatives from California that watch it religiously and broke it to me that it had been canceled. I just can’t believe it.
One of the very few shows I enjoyed watching. Very sad to see it go. I now have no reason to TNT anymore. YOUR station has now been CANCELLED!!!
Wow this show is cancelled – no way. How are we to find out what happened to the characters. I have been watching Dallas since it’s inception, and was so glad it came back. The writers and scripts are so wonderful. It is a powerful show. Please pick up show on another network, or change the day of viewing TNT. Hey put it on CBS and see what happens. I know a lot of people who do not have TNT.
So saddened by the news…the cast is phenominal…I know a lot of people wouldn’t watch it just because J.R. is gone….they have no idea of what they were missing…please reconsider!!
I am truly surprised that Dallas has been cancelled. It was an enjoyable show with
lots of twist in the plot that made one want to tune in each week.
Please reconsider this decision.
One of the few shows that still had some class. Hate to see it go, since I looked forward to watching. It was our movie night. Don’t watch alot of TV, (mostly trash), but this was a GOOD show! I would watch on another channel. Hope it comes back or gets picked up by another network. 🙁
