While Dante would say, “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here,” we’re not, but that’s just because nobody talks like that, anymore. USA Network has cancelled its Damnation TV show after just one season of 10 episodes. That means the season one finale, episode 1.10, “God’s Body,” which aired on January 18th, will now serve as the unintentional Damnation TV series finale.
A USA Network 1930s period drama, Damnation stars Killian Scott, Logan Marshall-Green, Sarah Jones, Chasten Harmon, Melinda Page Hamilton, Christopher Heyerdahl, Joe Adler, Teach Grant, Dan Donohue, David Haysom, Arnold Pinnock, and Rohan Mead. The heartland labor drama series centers on Seth Davenport (Scott). Although he’s a labor agitator, he poses as a small town Iowa preacher. Seth soon finds himself up against professional strikebreaker Creeley Turner (Marshall-Green), with whom he shares a dark and bloody past.
Damnation: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Damnation averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 682,000 viewers. Out of the 10 USA Network TV shows we’re currently tracking, Damnation ranked seventh in terms of its demo ratings and rose to sixth place in terms of total audience size. While it could have gone either way, the cancellation isn’t shocking.
Series Creator Tony Tost on the Damnation Cancellation
In addition to Deadline and Variety confirming USA has passed on picking up Damnation season two, creator Tony Tost addressed the cancellation on Twitter. Check it out.
I love what we made, and how we went about making it. I'm proud to have #DamnationTV out there for people to still find days and weeks and months and years from now. Thanks and love to all who helped and supported and watched. https://t.co/fjjUaTM0zu

Earlier this week, Tost was still holding out hope for a Damnation season two renewal.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season? Should USA Network have cancelled or renewed Damnation for a second season? Sound off in the comments.
I just discovered this show on Netflicks. It is the best TV since The West Wing And The Wire. Smart. stylish, politically gripping. I have been recommending it to everyone. Terrible shame to see it cancelled.
You can’t cancel “Damnation”!!! The story isn’t finished yet. Someone needs to pick up this incredible show and at least go one more season and finish it properly.
I didn’t really get a chance to become use to the show! i loved the show really because it was like a western from the past wrapped in the present! If they replace it with a reality t.v. show i am done with the network completely. bring it back please!
Shame on those who cancelled the season 2, it would have been a great show 🙁
I was hooked on this programme as soon as i started to watch it. The characters all have interesting storylines and questionable backgrounds. The acting was outstanding. Please please please make a second series. I cant believe not manypeople watched this brilliant show.
One of the top FIVE of mine and my boyfriends show!!! You guys messed up cancelling it!!
I watched late cuz I never heard of the show before. Only caught it by accident. Binge watch some episodes and caught the last 3 on USA. Was instantly hooked and addicted. Very disappointed there won’t be more seasons it should have at least 10+ seasons. Yeah, the show is that good and so refreshing from the same old crap we see all the time. It has a great cast and the storylines are awesome. Best show on TV. Shame on you USA a I won’t be watching your channel anymore.
Of course they cancelled it…….
It’s too close to home and just like how the show itself helped expose fake news! And the reality’s of our governments and society.
It simply spreads the wrong message of standing together as one and fighting for what is right!!!
I’m surprised they aired the first season
I can’t believe they cancelled it! That is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. Hopefully another will pick it up and continue on with it. Even if it was a mini series of 5 or 6 more episodes would be better than leaving it like it is.
Terry Gilmore. Just the fact I’m actually looking to when the next season starts says it all. I NEVER had enough interest in any show to actually give a flip when it returned, plenty of zombie brain food to fill their spots, but this show actually had so many layers and amazing characters I was having withdrawals. Maybe embellishing a little but was was a damn fine show and I can’t imagine who ever is in charge of making these decisions on canceling or renewing shows, ever watching an episode. This was a Show that could truly lift a sadly… Read more »
I hope it’s reconsidered. Great show, don’t know of anything else like it out there. USA Network can’t survive on Professional Wrestling alone can it?
One of my favorite shows, something new and original, of course they canceled it!!!! Jerks!
Lively, not lovely, damn spell check
Damnation is a very lovely and likeable show, and probably closer to the truth than anyone will admit, USA, should rethink cancelling this show, it’s DAMNED good, pun intended
Please have season 2. You cant leave mw hanging like that!
