TV show description:
The crew of a derelict spaceship is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets.
Charming but a bit of a goof, One aka “Pretty Boy” (Marc Bendavid) is the crew’s moral center. He’s a guy who always tries to do the right thing, despite the odds stacked against him and no matter how unpopular the course of action. He sometimes screws up but he means well.
The group’s defacto leader is Two aka “Boss Lady” (Melissa O’Neil) and she’s a master fighter. Determined, tough and more than a little headstrong, she is not the type you want to mess with or disappoint. She can be cool and inscrutable but still demonstrate surprising compassion.
A true bad-ass, Three aka “Sunshine” (Anthony Lemke) is the opposite of One which is why the two are often at odds. They develop a (grudging) like-hate relationship over the course of their journey. He is a mercenary through-and-through, is always looking out for himself, and learns that he needs others to survive.
Ever-stoic and a master of the blade, Four aka “Slashy McStabberson” (Alex Mallari Jr.) has a calm demeanor that belies a ruthlessness that gives even his fellow crewmembers pause. He’s a man of few words who is a fierce opponent and an equally loyal and passionate friend.
The mascot with a knack for mechanics, Five aka “Kid” (Jodelle Ferland) also has some mysterious abilities. What first seem like telepathic powers turn out to be jumbled memories — but whose memories are they? Easily bored, quick to mouth off, she is nevertheless a relative innocent amongst less savory company.
On the surface, Six aka “Tiny” (Roger Cross) is a low-key bruiser and an imposing figure with a heart of gold. Despite the company he keeps, he is a man of integrity with little patience for nonsense.
And finally, there’s The Android (Zoie Palmer). In personality, The Android is more butler-like than your typical robot and she’s an indispensible member of the crew and can control the ship’s system — an ability of which she isn’t shy about reminding everyone. An outsider among the ship’s human passengers, she is almost child-like in her earnest desire to fit in.
Episode #39 — Nowhere to Go
Two holds her gun on Ryo, preparing to kill him while Ryo pretty much tells her to get it over with. Before we can find out if she even can, though, they’re interrupted by a phone call from Teku. He’s got a fleet of ships loyal to Ryo and they want their emperor back. Not so fast.
The Raza Crew isn’t exactly willing to give him up after an entire season seeking revenge. Teku’s no fool, though, and he’s brought something that might interest them: the location of Boone, and by extension perhaps the rest of his crew. They agree to hold off on killing Ryo until they check it out.
First, though, some existential crises. Both Five and Two are wrestling with the news they received from Ryo. Five confides in Six that Alicia Reynaud, the woman who killed her friends and tried to kill her to get the Blink Drive back is actually her sister’s adoptive mother. That’s gonna be an awkward family reunion.
Meanwhile, Android has gotten into the lock box Ryo mentioned and retrieved a storage device full of password-locked files. She did notice one of interest, though. One marked Croydon, the name of the friend Two/Rebecca/Portia left her daughter with.
Family reunions will have to wait, though, because they’ve arrived at the location and discovered it’s a Ferrous shipyard just like the one from episode five, only this one is full of ships. They can’t exactly attack it on their own, so they call in Mikkei who are willing to provide a white hole device that will allow the Raza to destroy the station quickly and easily.
Of course, that assumes it works, which it doesn’t. Two, Three and Six get trapped behind enemy lines, captured, and split up. Two ends up in a room with a shady tech lady who asks questions about the Blink Drive and makes ominous comments, while Three and Six end up reuniting with their old friend Wexler who, SURPRISE, is actually a double agent for Mikkei.
Free of their bonds, Six heads off to rescue Two and he finds her tied up in the room where we last saw her. She’s acting a little weird but shakes it off. Three and Wexler meanwhile bring down the field that’s keeping them locked in and all hell breaks loose. Two, Six and Wexler make it off the station but Three is left behind, captured by Portia.
Back on board the Raza, Two wants to take out Ferrous once and for all, but when Mikkei is only able to provide six ships she turns to Ryo to supply much needed support in the form of Teku’s fleet. He helps them and he gets to go free. Good deal. With a plan in place we finally discover what happened to Two on the station. She’s been turned into an alien host. Bad news.
No time to dwell, though, because it’s space battle time. The Raza drops out of FTL, followed by the Mikkei and Ishida ships and immediately starts to attack the Ferrous ships and the station. Ferrous has the upper hand though and things aren’t going well for our heroes so, with Three safely off the station and taken somewhere by Portia, Two decides to sacrifice the Blink Drive and the Marauder to win the battle and the war.
She also takes the opportunity to take out the Android and force someone to pilot the Marauder manually. Six volunteers, because that’s the kind of guy he is, and he and Five say a very tearful goodbye.
Android manages to get a message about Two to Five who tries to stop Six but it’s too late. He can’t hear her. She gets a message to Ryo instead who takes out Two but Six is still on the way to the station. He detonates the drive, destroying himself, the Marauder and the station in one massive explosion that tears a hole in space-time. This is a bad, bad idea because there’s something on the other side of that rift. The alien invasion has begun. The black ships are here. (Courtesy Syfy.)

What do you think? Do you like the Dark Matter TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
plz dont cancel it!
acting, dialogs, character progression, overall plot complexity… just epic.
great mix between possible reality and too much imagination 😉
i hate series where u can miss some episodes and u still know whats going on…
u know u are doing good, even if u dont have enough viewers, ur fanbase will be (maybe small, but) loyal and’ll keep u in good memorys forever 😉
It is very a great show, never think of cancel it !
One of the better the on tv.. the writers do excellent job of setting up dilemmas for their characters the question of what actions are just, ethical, right are constantly explored.. some concern that the depth of this show is going over people’s heads one thought to contemplate for producers: do the violent action scenes at times detract from the moral issue at hand? When the swordsman plunges his sword into to his life-long mentor, who has been sent to capture him, his crew mates reaction is very muted. A few lines of reaction by them would have added depth… Read more »
Good show! Don’t think Friday night in the summer is a good time slot but I hope they give it a chance.
That’s another problem. Bad timing slot and litte advertising. If oeople do not know the show is on how cand they respond? I.e. “deep space nine” kept switching nights till no one knew to find it.
Dark matter is a great show to cancelled it would be t.v. suicide
I agree
Thank you! I agree!
I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!
Great show. Don’t cancel. Try keeping a good show this time
I hope they give this show a chance.
I love the show. This is different the cast is good even though I only know one character 6 I have seen him on fringe and continuum.
As long as it doesn’t turn into ” Stargate Universe “.
I’m so with you on that!
Let it find its own place, maybe Killjoys & Dark Matter will be like yang & yin. Killjoys is like a lighter version of Dark Matter, seemingly. Maybe. Could be. Possibly. Too early to form an opinion completely set in concrete.
i love this show i think i should keep going
Show sucks. Android is reaalty sad
It sounds like a great show. I hope the network gives it a fighting chance. Too often good shows are cancelled. Just look at CBS, NBC and ABC. They can’t tell a good show if their life depended on it.
Neither can Fox – ” Firefly ” is a glaring example. Leaving a story idea with them is like abandoning a baby with them to be ( hopefully ) raised by wolves, in a lot of cases.
Sounds like ” Stargate : Universe ” meets ” Star Trek : Voyager ” & I’ll skip the BSG reference since it’s been used enough. Maybe ” LOST ” or ” Firefly ” ?
Syfy appears to want to win back the fan base that it alienated when it replaced its science – fiction programming with supernatural / paranormal series, reality shows, wrestling ( ! ). Maybe they’ve seen the light & remembered to ” dance with the one who brung ya “, or some such. ” Dark Matter ” & even ” Killjoys ” show promise.
pretty great
I have to say I’m impressed for a first episode. It’s a great cast and they can all pull their weights. i like the android’s snarkiness, reminds me a bit of Red Dwarf. Of course Zoie Palmer is a favorite from Lost Girl and many of the actors have a SyFy background. I gather they’ll all be on Sharknado 3. The writers have jumped in with both feet and are finding a balance. It’s hard to do when so many renewal decisions are made within a few episodes time, so it limits the amount of setup shows have now. But… Read more »
