ITV has cancelled its DCI Banks TV show after five seasons (series). Radio Times reports the fifth series will be the final outing. The program ends with the two-part finale, “Undertow, which will serve as the DCI Banks TV series finale.
Stephen Tompkins starred in the title role of ITV’s adaption Peter Robinson’s Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks book series. Andrea Lowe, Caroline Catz, Jack Deam, and Samuel Anderson also starred.

The broadcaster said that the fifth series, which aired earlier this year, will be its last.
“After five series, ITV has taken the decision not to recommission DCI Banks. We’re grateful to the production team at Left Bank Pictures for creating the world of DCI Banks and the actors Stephen Tompkinson, Andrea Lowe and Caroline Catz for the commitment and dedication they’ve shown to their roles.”

I have loved the series and the actors from across the pond and while I must mourn the passing of Annie, I think there are still stories to be told…would love the powers- that- be to reconsider their choice ….and renew!No shame in admitting a mistake , and think of the people who’d be so pleased with the result .

Just watched the final episode which I recorded from Belgian tv. Can’t believe ITV would scrap a succesful series like DCI Banks.
Best detective series on TV. Can’t believe they would scrap this. When you think of all the other crap that gets renewed, and then you see quality drama like this get5 canned, it’s heartbreaking.
I love this programme. We need a 6th series
We can’t believe that Annie was killed off. We are in mourning. Still love the other characters, especially DCI Banks and Carolyn Catz. We need to see how they move on in their lives.

The best show since MI 5 was cancelled. I don’t understand why the best shows are cancelled. I am American yet I can’t get enough British shows. DCI Banks is the best show and I will continue to look at the reruns. Please reconsider and bring this great show back.

One of my very favorites. Great characters. Surely Annie could be
replaced with interersting new character. Will miss the show.. Loved that it was 1 1/2 hours which allowed for very good story lines. So seldom does that occur.
Wish cancellation would be reconsidered.

ITV can’t that. What about other stories that haven’t been made into episodes, yet? Like Gallows View, A Dedicated Man, A Necessary End, The Hanging Valley, Past Reason Hated, Dead Right, In a Dry Season, The Summer That Never Was, All the Colours of Darkness, Watching The Dark, Children of the Revolution, Abattoir Blues and When the Music’s Over. ITV, please bring DCI Banks back for season six. Just give it another chance. Reconsider, please.

DCI Banks a fantastic show with a great cast, a superb script for each show, and the cast really brings the show to life. I’m across the pond and I look forward to DCI Banks and other British TV shows that are so well done compared to American detective shows. I strongly urge ITV to reconsider this terrible decision keep showing American TV how to do a proper detective show.
