Telly’s Take
With all the death and destruction on this show, you might expect to find this humble vulture in the midst of a gluttonous gorge. It seems, however, that Designated Survivor could find itself safe for a second season, despite its performance. Mirroring its lead character’s journey, this TV series finds itself in its present position, largely due to the catastrophic state of ABC’s drama slate.
Although it has been on hiatus since mid-December, Designated Survivor will not return until March 8th. That means the network is keeping it off the air, during Nielsen’s crucial February ratings sweeps. In addition, back in December, Jeff Melvoin boarded as the third showrunner — replacing Jon Harmon Feldman, who in turn, replaced Amy B. Harris. While I’ll remain on my perch for now, I’m keeping an eye on this one. It looks to me as though the network is trying to shore up this series and doing what they can to help it be a success.

What do you think? Should the Designated Survivor TV show have been renewed for season two? How would you feel if ABC had cancelled this TV show, instead?
Yes awesome, and that’s from me in the Uk. Bring on more and more.
There has to be a season 2!!!! It’s an awesome show
We are thoroughly enjoying desingnated survivor . Fabulous cast and well acted . Bring on more seasons PLEASE
We are thoroughly enjoying Designated survivor and truly hope there is a Season 2. Most of my family is as hooked on this show as we were with Revenge some years back.
One of the best shows of all time. I’m serious. Easily better than Game of Thrones if people were honest
LOVE this show!!!! It is one of the only two shows I watch! I will NEVER watch ABC again if it cancels Designated Survivor!
Yes, yes, this series must be renewed. It is intelligent, engrossing and a pleasure to watch each night. I do wish it was at 9 PM instead of 10 PM pst.
What would Wednesday be without his clever show? Encore! Encore!
One of the best shows we have watched in quite some time Please Renew it Thanks S
The best show on TV. I’d be devastated if it canceled.
Do not cancel…. This is the type of President we need in this country he is for the people…..
go online look up Tommy Douglas from Canada read the history of this man… Kiefer Sutherland is his grandson ….
…and because it has taken on one side of the political argument, it has started to alienate one half of its audience….
Then change the channel Mike and make room for those of us who enjoy the show.
This is one of the few shows I look forward to during the week. Please do not cancel — it’s a unique combo of educational and good dramatic storytelling. The acting is excellent and not formulaic, as often occurs in series TV.
This is the only ABC show I watch. My wife and I LOVE it. I certainly hope ABC doesn’t cancel it.
Please, please, please don’t cancel it. There are only two shows left on network tv that I enjoy and this is one that I love.
GREAT show; however, Sutherland is a much better Jack Bauer as an intelligence/anti-terrorist operative than he is in the bleeding heart liberal Presidency and, thus, this show might have one or two seasons left. So, while it is well-written, directed and acted with imaginative scripts and sometimes very bright story-lines, I wouldn’t expect it to be nearly as successful nor long-running as was 24.
How can it be a great show if Mister Sutherland is SO bad in it? Btw the character is an Independent not a liberal.
Kiefer’s performance is so much better here than it was on 24. I love 24 and Jack Bauer, but it wasn’t due to great acting.
Must disagree , Roger. 24 was great BECAUSE of the great acting! If Kiefer weren’t such a great actor Jack would have either come off as a wuss or a land sark(shark dammit! Where’s my spell check?!) nothing but a walking talking killing machine. Instead Jack was one of the greatest characters ever created.
Please don’t cancel – I like it very much b/c I do not like to watch violence such as is in Scandal.
