ABC has unveiled yet another cop series, Detroit 1-8-7. This one stars Michael Imperioli who, as you may recall, co-starred on ABC’s Life on Mars a couple seasons ago. That one was cancelled after 17 episodes. Will his new show last any longer?
Detroit 1-8-7 follows a group of homicide detectives working on the tough streets of Detroit, Michigan. The ABC series stars Imperioli as well as Aisha Hinds, D.J. Cotrona, Erin Cummings, James McDaniel, Jon Michael Hill, Natalie Martinez, and Shaun Majumder.
In its premiere, the series attracted a lackluster 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.342 million total viewers. For the timeslot, it was in third (last) place for the all-important demo and in second place for total viewers (beating Parenthood).

The series premiere lost nearly half of its lead-in audience from Dancing with the Stars. Not good.
On top of that, Detroit 1-8-7 continued to lose viewers as the hour progressed. That’s a pretty good indicator that those viewers won’t be back next week.
Detroit 1-8-7 will likely lose viewers in week two, as most shows do. It won’t have to lose many to be in serious trouble.
But, what do you think? Is Detroit 1-8-7 worth watching? Will you make a point to tune in or should it be cancelled already?

I’m so tired of all the good shows getting cancelled just because some idiot puts it up against a program like “dancing with the stars” . There is no program, new, old or otherwise that will show well against one of the most watched shows on TV today. Detroit 1-8-7 is a very realistic, and gritty show. It’s about time somone has brought attention to life in Detroit and the hardships of those that live there and what they have to face on a daily basis. It’s damn HARD. The city is full of poverty and crime and there needs… Read more »
Hey Nick, Quebec borders Ontario. Only ONE of the Canadians was speaking French, there are immigrants from all over the world living in Ontario. Just as many if not more so than any other North American region. Cobo Hall is called Cobo Arena ALL THE TIME. I lived there for 35 years. Life insurance DOES NOT always pay on suicide. In fact, if the insurance company investigators, or police report PROVE it was suicide, most often they won’t. I know alot of whites that live in Detroit. If you don’t like the show, turn the channel. But don’t think you… Read more »
Love this show. Please keep it around.
Hey the show is great, don’t cancel it. I get tired of just watching the news because there aren’t any good guy shows on.
I don’t watch cop shows and only tuned in as a curiosity because it was shot in Detroi,t bu,t WOW, was I blown away!! The acting is top notch, the storys are interesting and realistic. After the first time time to check it out I can’t miss one show.
Please we don’t need any more shows with whinning women, how boring.
This is a STUPID show. Someone needs to tell the writers and producers that guns need triggers, people in Ontario don’t speak French, Michigan does NOT have the death penalty, noone’s ever called Cobo Hall “Cobo” Arena, life insurance does pay on suicide, and there are about 12 white people that live in Detroit (6 downtown, and 6 homeless crackheads). What’s next? Perhaps they’ll say that people from Pontiac can fly. Maybe Detroit Fire stations make their trucks out of gummi worms. Just STUPID.
Love this show. Interesting but not-freaky strange, trying to be too different. A great police drama.
I really hope that Detroit 187 is back for another season.
The show is great, and its developing characters week to week.
It would be a shame to introduce new plot lines..like the gangster from New York who contacted Fitch,..and then pull the plug on the show.
I look forward to Tues. evenings and REALLY want this great show to survive.
Please don’t cancel this show. I think that Detroit makes a great setting for a cop show. I think that each episode is getting better and better. It’s gritty and raw. Give it a chance!
DETROIT 187 IS AWESOME COP SERIES… THE GOOD WIFE IS A STUPID SHOW WITH SAD WHINING CRY BABY WOMAN THAT DON’T KNOW HANDLE OWN LIFE THIS SHOW WACK JOB.

Finally there is character and plot development for Detroit 187. The D is shown with at least some compassion, grit and drive to make the city better. Keep Detroit 187 running for at least a second season. The positive light and many jobs it has created adds a lot of soul to the city.
This show is amazing!! I hope it doesn’t get cancelled because it’s my favorite show on TV
This is a great show . My wife and I love it please do not cancel this show. I am sure that most people who watch this show do not watch Dancing With The Stars.
Detroit 187 is a great show. I love the characters and the stories. Maybe ABC can move it to another night. There are so many other bad shows on tv that make it, I don’t understand how well-done shows get canceled.
Detroit 1-8-7 is my favorite show this year. I never miss it, and really hope it stays.
I visited Detroit in 2010 and now really enjoy all the locations shots even more: Burned-out houses, abandoned buildings, etc. Nothing Hollywood about it. Very real, great story lines, and terrific cast. Keep this one! Please…
