ABC has decided to cancel Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 after one and a half seasons on the air. The network has pulled the low-rated sitcom off the schedule and it’s unclear when or if viewers will be able to see the eight unaired installments.
Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 debuted early last year and revolves around sweet girl (Dreama Walker) who moves to New York for her dream job and, after it evaporates, ends up moving in with a con-artist party-girl (Krysten Ritter). The cast also includes Liza Lapira, Michael Blaiklock, Eric Andre, Ray Ford, and James Van Der Beek, playing a fictional version of himself.
With mediocre ratings, the sitcom was on the bubble for renewal last May with an average of a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.71 million total viewers.
ABC opted to take a chance and order season two but the ratings have been significantly lower this time around, thanks in part to the sitcom being moved to Tuesday nights.
The network tried to give struggling Don’t Trust the B and Happy Endings some additional exposure by running episodes in 666 Park Avenue’s old Sunday night timeslot but that experiment proved to be a dismal ratings disappointment.
The 11 episodes that have aired this season have averaged a 1.1 demo rating and 2.85 million viewers.
ABC has now pulled Don’t Trust the B from the schedule and some of the stars of the show realize that this marks the end of the road.
Van Der Beek tweeted, “Sad to say ABC has pulled #Apt23 and will not be airing the 8 remaining episodes any time soon. Translation: we’ve basically been cancelled… And please, no bashing ABC. While I’m sure no one there would say they think they nailed it when it came to programming #Apt23 this year… You’ve got to give ABC props for ever picking us up in the first place. They took a shot at something original & edgy. I respect them for it.”
Ritter wrote, “my beloved fans, sad to confirm that it is true. Don’t Trust the B— #apt23 has been cancelled. thank you so much for your support i love u”
And Walker scribed, “Beyond grateful for two seasons to be proud of on #Apt23. Thanks for all of your love and support :)”
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that there won’t be a third season of Don’t Trust the B? Do you feel like it’s a better show than what the ratings indicate? Is it better than other sitcoms on the ABC schedule?

So sad, when so many “lowest common denominator” shows remain on the air. The B was edgy and hilarious and James Van derbeek’s over the top portrayal of JVDB was outstanding. I will miss this show! Must see the unaired episodes.
Bummer!!! I loved this show…so funny and wrong. Really going to miss it!
It still amazes me some of the garbage that is on TV and anything new or different gets cancelled. Seinfeld had terrible ratings till season three. Difference? Networks. Stupid move
Actually when Seinfeild whent off the air it was number one. The only other show to end at number one was I Love Lucy on April 1st 1960
When it went off the air in Season 9.
Sarah actually stated she was talking about Season 1-3.
It seems in Season 3 it was only about #42, didn’t hit #1 until Season 6.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I loved this show so much.
So they cancelled Last Resort one of the best shows on TV since Jericho and Heroes because of the female demographic. Now this show which is heavily female demographic (and the wife and I watched it as it was quirky, edgy, and funny) is cancelled because of low ratings? DISNEY/ABC please GTFO of here with your stupidity. You make more than enough money to leave good/great shows on. That is why no one respects you. That and your stupid reality programming.
Bad move, was a great show
Why the **** did they cancel this?? They should cancel pretty little liars, it got pretty boring after the 2nd season.
Bad move ABC. Cute show, edgy, great characters, funny. James toung-in-cheek great.
Making room for Happy Endings? Please. If they only asked US. It’s all about placement of the show. Bummer.
This was a very odd show for me probably why I never watched too much of it… that and it definitely is more fit for the female demographic. Wonder what ABC will roll out next.
sucks that its getting cancelled….it was awesome….the whole two nights a week thing kinda killed it…some episodes seemed backwards…one second mark would be with his girlfriend and then the next episode he was broken up with her and into june then that sunday hed be back with his girlfriend and Van Der Beek would be just getting an audition for dancing with the stars that messed it up a lot…but chloes unapologetic nature was awesome..they should have continued on with the guy she conned who conned her back and then van der beek should have had a love interest and… Read more »
