Doubt fans don’t need to be worried about a cliffhanger. Recently, co-creator Joan Rater revealed the central case of the new CBS series will be resolved by the end of season one, E! reports.
The legal drama stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis, a brilliant attorney who starts to fall for her charismatic client, a surgeon (Steven Pasquale) accused of murdering his girlfriend. The cast also includes Dulé Hill, Laverne Cox, Elliot Gould, and Dreama Walker.
Rater told reporters the mystery surrounding Billy Brennan’s (Pasquale) guilt will be revealed:
You’re going to know whether or not he’s guilty or innocent. So, here’s what was interesting to us: The idea that you’re a guy who’s accused of something and arrested and you didn’t do it—from your point of view. And you’re stuck in jail—he was stuck in jail for four months—and his lifeline was Sadie. And they developed this deep friendship, this relationship that went beyond attorney-client, and that’s a line, do you know what I mean…and I’m like, what if the line is blurred? What if? All those ‘What if?’s came to play.”
Doubt premiered yesterday, February 15th, to somewhat poor ratings. The series debut earned only a .8 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.290 million viewers — all low numbers for CBS.
What do you think? Did you watch the Doubt premiere? Will you stick with the series?
I streamed it and thought it was really good! I am already invested in each character, which to me means good plot, great acting. Why in the world talk about canceling when it’s just getting started?
Surprisingly good, and a great group of actors. It’s too bad 5 million people watching a show means it’s not good enough… That’s why network TV is losing to cable and streaming shows…
exactly
Yes, I watched and liked very much. Please do not cancel a show that just started!!! Give it a chance, please!!!!!!!!
Enjoyed it. Looking forward to more episodes
I thought it was good. Decided to watch because of Dule Hill, but liked the rest too. Give it a chance.
Painfully bad. This cast deserves better. The plot was boring, too jumpy, and the banter and acting seemed forced. No rhythm and chemistry made it very hard to watch.
I watched only 10 painful minutes of this show. I had to change channels. One thing I did not like was the idea of a character tying a dog to a parking meter and forgetting it for 10 hours. That’s animal abuse. The acting was strained. Doubt is unwatchable.
tried to watch it but could not get past 30 min. Is this suppose to be a comedy? Really bad. Will not try again.
The opening was silly. Riding a bicycle and changing clothes on the sidewalk, says trying to hard to be cool. Then getting her dad out of jail, really? I am watching this show because of Dulle, but I think his talent is wasted here. Trying really hard to watch till the end of the episode. Don’t think I can watch an entire season, sorry.
I agree that Dulé’s talents are wasted on this show.
Study is too loose. Pacing needs to improve. Many elements are beyond suspending disbelief. Willing to give a second chance
Never even heard of it until today and excited to watch it. (Love Dule!) Networks know how to market new TV shows properly… I don’t know why they fail at it so frequently. And dumping a show before the second season ends is just impatience — no chance to develop and grow.
I really liked this pilot. Please give it a chance.
I watched it today (I dvr everything ) and it was fair at best. Mediocre acting and overdone story line. I might give it one more chance.. 50/50 at best!
Love it!!!Please don”t cancel doubt give it more time to fine audience!!!
That’s a good idea because the show will probably average under a 1.0 and that is worthy of CANCELLATION.
