PBS has announced that the sixth and final season of Downton Abbey will premiere in the United States on Sunday, January 3, 2016.
At the Television Critics Asociation press tour, PBS CEO Paula Kerger said that Downton “has made a big difference for a lot of reasons… There is no question it has been a great gift. It brought a lot of people back to public television. We really tried to take advantage of that…At a time when the financial meltdown was challenging everyone, it gave us a lift.”
What do you think? Will you be tuning in for the final season of Downton Abbey? Are you sorry to see this Masterpiece series go?
I will miss Downton Abbey, but it hasn’t seemed the same since the departure of Matthey and Sybil. I agree with the comment above that the program has been dragging the last couple of years, but it is still better than what is on the networks. I will really miss it!
I am sorry to see this series end. It was the best show that PBS has had in a long time.
Downton was dragging the last couple of years, especialy the Bates’ murder investigaion debacle. But it’s still better than what’s on the networks.
When is the European premier?
I will truly miss this series!!!!
