Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The comedy explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.
Nan is trying to negotiate a trying job, as well as her unfair, narcissistic boss, Kevin (Rothbart), while dealing with turmoil in her private life. Sometimes, the tumult distracts her from what Martin considers her priorities.
When he can’t have Nan’s undivided attention, Martin feels isolated and neglected and, as a result, acts out. Consequently, the two attend obedience school, which gives them a fresh perspective on the importance of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Nan is trying establish boundaries with her her ex-boyfriend Jason (Neff), while still retaining him as Martin’s dog walker. Rounding out Nan’s circle is her human best friend and co-worker, Jenn (Howell-Baptiste).

I will be severely disappointed if this show is cancelled. It’s the only show that dog lovers can really relate to.
I loved the show it should have been given another shot.
Please bring it back. It was so sweet and I always watched it.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RENEW THIS SHOW!!!!!!!! This show is the most unique, original show on TV!!!!! It’s the kind of show you must watch more than once just get all the one liners, and hidden meanings. My Dog told me so!!!! LOL. Whoever wrote this must be a dog whisperer!!!!! It is uncanny how the writers continued to bring 100% humor and 100% tears to my face on every single episode. The evil Cat was genius! But the “Lost” Episode was just over the top!!! How can you end such a brilliant piece of work!!!! Some may be irritated at… Read more »

We absolutely LOVED Downward Dog, especially the history of “Martin” and how he was rescued from a Chicago Animal shelter. In fact, our 1 year old pug loves to watch Martin and will sit in front of the television during the entire 30 minute show. We are disappointed that Downward Dog has been cancelled.
GREAT show! I looked forward to it every week.
I watch vey few network comedies, but loved this show. Can’t believe it has been cancelled and so many stupid show remain!
