East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

East New York is a great show, besides Law and Order this is the only other cop show I REALLY enjoy. Please rescind cancellation.
I love this show. The grittiness, the characters, the dynamic among the cast. I would love for East New York to be saved. I would watch it anywhere.
It drives me crazy that shows like this get cancelled, but truly inane shows (Stars on Mars? Srsly?) get air time. Please save East New York!

I am very, very disappointed to hear that East New York is being canceled!!! It was gritty, emotional, true, tough, and thought provoking. Easily could have gone down in classic T.V. history like the greats…Kojak, N.Y.P.D., Hill Street Blues, Hawaii Five-0, S.W. A. T. The characters make you really feel connected. Please give the fans what we want; I thought your mission is to entertain the masses??!!! RENEW EAST NEW YORK PLEASE!!!
East New York was a great show. If CBS doesn’t find a way to bring it back or another network, what a shame!! I may shop around for another network for my tv viewing other than CBS. The show was positive, authentic characters, dealt with true to today’s world story lines, etc…
East New York was my favorite new show of the 22-23 season. No nonsense, great characters, authentic interactions… I was surprised and disappointed to hear of its cancellation. Amanda Warren was fantastic, and I’m a big fan of Jimmy Smits from way back. If ENY lands on another network or platform, I WILL BE THERE!
Best new show! Main character Amanda Warren plays her role perfectly . For some shows it takes 2 seasons to catch on, so pleeeaaase keep it going…
