East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

East New York’s finale airs on Sunday night on CBS.
What do you think? Do you want to see East New York return for a second season? Would you watch it on a new channel or service?
I really hope this great show, East New York, finds a new home. Love this show!!!
The best first responder show on TV and Chicago fire hands down. Without a doubt I was a fire fighter for 32 years. It’s it’s the most realistic first responder Series on TV.
Yes, I would like to see East New York continue it’s a good show. Actors are excellent please rethink the cancellation of the show.
Please bring back East New York – it is a great show – has so much to offer
Such a good show, our favorite. Please find a way to bring it back.
I love East New York and looked forward to seeing it every week. I knew it was on the bubble about being renewed, but it’s such a different and good show I couldn’t imagine it would be cancelled. Now I hear they saved SWAT which means ENY needs to go. If I have to choose I’ll take East New York every time.
Hope a new home can be found. Show is to good to be cancelled. Network doesn’t have that many good shows that they can afford to cancel East New York.
ENY has become one of our favorite shows of ALL the network offerings! A stellar cast .. great plot lines .. credible relationships .. so well written .. and who isn’t happy to see Jimmy Smits and Richard Kind doing what they do best … pulling us in for a night of good, solid entertainment! This show should not have been canceled .. please reconsider … we need ENY‼️
Why would CBS cancel such a great show!!! It makes me sooooo mad!!!!! They leave crap on for season after season and won’t give an awesome show a chance!!!!!! It’s just ridiculous!!!!!
I hope this show can be saved. I really enjoy the story lines & would like the show to be given another chance. Hoping a new home can be found for this show.
Please save this show it’s got grit and a Fantastic story line each week…..
The sad thing here is that this is just another signal that scripted network shows are dying because of a) cost and b) competition with streaming. ENY is a terrific show, and several years ago nothing like this would have happened. If you look at CBS’ fall schedule, there are a grand total of TWO new scripted series, and Wednesday has expanded to two 90-minute reality shows. SWAT got the 13-episode order so something needed to be cut. I suspect ENY will end up on a streaming platform somewhere, but not on a network. In a handful of years you’ll… Read more »
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL EAST NEW YORK , LOVE THAT DHOW
I really like East New York. it is fast paced with characters that have different points of view. Said points of view make the characters inflexible and singularity single issue orientated, but I like that focus and rigidity. I will miss it. I watch Magnum P I on NBC after it was picked up.. I hope the same can happen with East New York.
DO NOT CANCEL E.N.Y!!!
I hope another network picks it up. It’s a great show. Really disappointed CBS didn’t renew it.
Do not cancel love this show
