East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

Love this show. I can’t understand why they would cancel a great police drama and renew the comedy GHOST…is it just me?
I really love the show East New York I look forward to watching it on Sunday night. It has an amazing outstanding cast. I hope that you will reconsider to save the show or find a new home for it. My heart and prayers are with the the writers and producers who are protesting with the strike at this time I hope that it will come up with a solution soon.

I live in Barbados and enjoy watching the shows on CBS – I think you have the best shows on tv. East New York is a great show. Very good acting and excellent storylines so far. It would be a pity if this show is cancelled after just one season. I’m a fan of SWAT but it has had its run. It’s time to give a new and worthy show like East New York a chance.
We love East New York! We’ve watch all the most popular crime shows for years and didn’t need another. However, we checked out East New York and loved it! The writing and acting are on par with the Law and Order Franchise. The story lines are interesting and the crime scenes don’t exploit gore. The cast acts like they’ve been working together for years! There hasn’t been one boring episode, we’ve watched them all. Please find a way to save East New York. It’s our favorite new tv show this season. We dvr most shows, and watch East New York as soon as we can. We watch SWAT too but we are behind about 4 shows since we aren’t in a rush to watch

i really enjoyed this show. i have never watched the show that was cancelled and reinstated i believe there are several of these shows. i have never watched one but i don’t believe there needs to be three of the same shows this show was different and the characters were more human than other shows

All of us can’t be wrong in wanting ENY to be renewed ! PLEASE listen to the people . TV is so full of senseless , mindless “reality” shows that we NEED a show like this that actually depicts aspects of TRUE reality , touches our hearts and allow us to care and ‘escape’ for a little while.
