The game is afoot once more. Today, CBS announced they’ve renewed Elementary for a fifth season, which will air during the 2016-2017 season.
A modern update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Sherlock Holmes stories, Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson. The drama also stars Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill.
Currently in its fourth season, Elementary has seen some change this year. Recently, CBS moved the series from its usual Thursday timeslot to Sundays. The move doesn’t seem to have made a noticeable difference in the ratings. So far, this season has dipped by about 20%, with a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demo and around 5.79 million viewers.
Today, the network announced 2016-17 season renewals of 10 other shows as well — 2 Broke Girls, The Amazing Race, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and Survivor.

I AM SUPER HAPPY ELEMENTARY HAS A 5TH SEASON. WISH WHO EVER DECIDES WHAT SHOWS ARE WORTH RENEWING WILL LET THIS SHOW REMAIN ON TV. IT’S REALLY A GREAT SHOW. BUT AIRING IT ON SUNDAYS ISN’T A GREAT IDEA. FAMILIES ARE NORMALLY OUT DOING FAMILY THINGS. PUT IT BACK ON A WEEK DAY, SO WHEN US PARENTS GET HOME WE HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO WATCHING WHEN THE KIDS ARE IN BED.
I love this show & have watched every episode. The best.
Elementary besides being a great show is also a great way to demonstrate the difficulties of addiction.

Elementary is the most intelligent and engaging drama on television, now that Good Wife (which was every bit as good, is off the air). The writing is beyond anything else that’s on, and the cast, plots and witty dialogue deserve Emmy Awards. It is so well constructed and challenging that I watch all the reruns that are in syndication, because every show is like a new episode after one hasn’t seen it in awhile. I can’t believe it isn’t one of the highest rated programs on television, unless it has that curse of being ‘too intelligent” for the general audience.… Read more »

I love, love, love, Elementary. Just wish it was in an earlier time slot. I subscribe to HULU just so I can watch Elementary as much as I want. Love the whole cast. They just “work”. Please do not cancel it. Thanks.
Absolutely love this new twist on Sherlock homes and Watson hope it continues for many many years to come Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Lu are awesome actors and actresses have enjoyed every episode So far

I am agreeing with the reviewer that said suffering from withdrawal symptoms with the ending of this show. I keep watching all of this series over and over again because I cannot find anything as interesting story-line-wise. I really care about these characters and what happen to them. Please continue with more seasons.
