It seems Dorothy Gale will return to Kansas. NBC has cancelled the Emerald City TV show. There will be no season two. The fantasy drama starred Adria Arjona, Vincent D’Onofrio, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
As usual, it comes down to the ratings. The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic and an audience of 3.02 million viewers. When you compare its ratings to those of other NBC TV shows, the cancellation is understandable.
Emerald City Cancellation Confirmed
While we have been anticipating the Emerald City TV show cancellation for a while, Variety confirmed it, last night.
Emerald City‘s yellow brick road to the airwaves was riddled with potholes. Production on The Land of Oz-inspired drama was supposed to begin in 2014. Although the network planned for a 2015 premiere, creative differences derailed the project.
The Peacock Network eventually reversed that decision. In April 2015, they brought on a new showrunner. Still, it seems they didn’t have much faith in Emerald City, since they scheduled it on Friday nights, and held the premiere until January 2017.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the Emerald City TV series? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
Instead of all the ‘reality’ **** that is pushed down our throats Emerald City was brilliant escapism, loved it and really disappointed that no season 2
Needs a second season.
Defiantly wanting a 2nd season after the way the first ended.
I know right?
Im watching the first season nowUvZG
That’s crazy that was a good show you didn’t give a chance to get any rating up I love the show I looking forward of watching the second season of emerald city
Loved this series, was like Games of Thrones crossed with Charmed. Great casting, acting, and eye candy for both genders. And twists throughout. Bring in season 2!!!!
I’m derpressed .. pleas make another season.!!
I hate that. though I watched it on demand after the show was over. I liked it. Nice clean family show.
Come on HBO, Starz, Netflix! Someone pick up this fabulous reteling of Dorothy and Oz! Saw it On Demand just this week. Do not know how I missed it in January. Never read the books, guess I will give them a try.
I watched the show with my mother, we loved it really much it was just released in Canada, we would have enjoyed it really much if there could have been a season 2. I’m really sad. So much questions unanswered…
I really enjoyed this show. No sense going into the great aspects since NBC has already killed it. It may have received better ratings if it had been in a different time slot. NBC has disappointed me again.
Really loved the show, it was exciting and kept me interested for the whole time it was on, really disappointed, was looking forward to Season 2. What else is new, they always cancel the good shows.
My family & I loved this show!! So disappointed it was cancelled.
It’s a great show wish you would bring it back an give it another chance
The series was a fresh new perspective on a very old and over told concept. Bravo to the show, I enjoyed it’s unique flare and interesting twist on new character concepts. Very sorry to hear that it would not be renewed, not surprised based on the garbage NBC regularly puts out. They must be employing the SYFY executive team for their decision making skills. Simply out of touch, likely the reason the delay occurred in the first place. Stop listening to the overrated outdated Rotten Tomatoes critic pool. There is a reason the audience scores are significantly different on the… Read more »
