THR reports Jim Gaffigan will be a series regular in season three of Fargo, on FX. Since the actor comedian and his wife Jeannie Gaffigan left The Jim Gaffigan Show, after two seasons, the TV Land comedy was effectively cancelled.
According to the report, Gaffigan will play Donny Mashman. The character is a police deputy who works with Eden Valley Police Chief Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon). Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have also joined the third season cast, with McGregor playing a dual role. Additionally, Scoot McNairy is set to recur.
More on Fargo, Season Three:
The crime anthology’s first season was set in 2006, while the events of season two took place in 1979. According to showrunner Noah Hawley, Fargo season three will take place in 2010, therefore it seems likely some season one talent could return.
Not so fast. Back in January, Hawley most notably said none of the first season leads would return as leads in the upcoming installment. However, he also teased the possibility that one character might crossover. Season three of Fargo is slated to premiere on FX in 2017.
What do you think? Are you a Jim Gaffigan fan? Will you watch him in the third season of Fargo on FX?
