One of the unfortunate bits of news that came out of this week’s upfronts is that FlashForward has been cancelled after just one season. The TV show’s last episode will air as scheduled next week but, can viewers expect some closure?
The story of FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for a little more than two minutes and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
In an interview with EOnline, actress Sonya Walger recently shared that, while there is some closure in the FlashForward series finale, an awful lot is left open-ended. On the positive side, the show does come full-circle from the pilot.
Walger said, “There’s another flash-forward brewing, but it remains to be seen if it happens or not… The finale is just brilliantly written. It’s so satisfying to watch how everybody ends up — or doesn’t — in the positions that they saw themselves in the pilot. Watching these chess pieces move into position so that everyone is where they saw themselves being is ingenious. And by the end of the penultimate episode, they’ve pushed everyone as far away from their final positions as they could possibly be. It’s a brilliant device.”
Walger’s own character, Olivia, will really shift her focus in the final two episodes. She says, “Olivia’s prime concern becomes Charlie, her little girl, and making sure that she’s OK. That becomes her guiding star, not if Mark (Joseph Fiennes) is all right or am I going to hook up with Lloyd (Jack Davenport). In pursuing that goal, all of these other things fall into place.”
What do you think? Do you think that you’ll still enjoy the ending of the series, even though all of the questions haven’t been answered?

I can’t believe they are going to cancel Flashfoward. I think they should have placed it on other night first to see how it does. I mean Thursday night is a bad night with other great shows. They should have tried to move the show to let say Tuesday night with V and then them might have gotten the ratings. I’m so mad this was an awesome show. ABC you love to take off new shows that I enjoy.
this is a bad move and is gonna come back and bit them in the butt!
i hope for the sake of all of us that some other network has the brains to pick up this show because it is awesome. i hate that they are ending it. I just checked my tivo though and the info said that mark finds out the date of the next black out. If they were going to cancel the show then why in the hell would they tell us about something that is supposed to happen in the future on the show. That is just stupid!!!!!!!!!
I live in Italy
It’s unbelievable…
Why don’t cancel ABC?
If it were in Italy it would be disappeared yet for its way of selecting programs.
A remake of an old stuff that is uninteresting at all will go in, while a clever new series, finally something really of high quality while all around there is a world of awful things that makes brain like soup.
Tv should not think that public is idiot, they’re more idiot when take decision only considering numbers.
Quality always worth, idiocy never pay at the end!
(sorry if my language is not perfect)

Flashforward is so creative and compelling. Why cancel? It is probably cheaper to produce mindless reality TV that no one watches?
Why cancel flashforward it’s the best thing on tv in ages. It’s different to anything that’s been on tv before. The story is great, just because it isn’t getting the viewers it did when it started isn’t a reason for canceling it. Loads of people still watch it, it is a big hit in the uk creating loads in international sales. I just don’t get it ?
What’s a matter with you morons? You get a good story line, something that stretches the imagination, great acting and you cancel!!! Are you trying to ‘dumb down’ the audiences – no don’t answer that, it’s obvious you are. What is the point of television? There is no entertainment value to the programming
Lets all just pray this show’s finale is good enough to get the show picked up by another company. Maybe they are just waiting for the finale to see if its worth it or if they think its dumb. Either way I’d love to see what a second season would have in store and I am SURE it would get enough viewers to keep it going.
I agree with Julie. An alternate time-slot might have done the trick. Now that LOST is over, there’s nothing to look forward to on ABC anymore. Way to go TV Execs!!!
NOOOOOOOOO! Please don’t cancel Flashforward! It was one of the best show that I’ve seen in a long time. The story line was so interesting completely different then anything else out their. Did you even give it a chance and try moving it in another time slot. I know several times I’d wished that it started at 9:00pm because I was still finishing up my nightly chores. Couldn’t you try that instead? I’m really surprised, the people I talked to really loved the show. Please reconsider the mistake you are making.
How did Friends make it so far and Flash Forward get canned after one season. With 24 coming to and end it is all too much. Maybe ABC had no vision (Flash Forward) perhaps taking a mid season break to try and align the timeline with the plotline was not the smartest of moves. I hear that the final episode will be very good and it could be the oldest supply and demand trick in the book. Are ABC that smart? I don’t think so, I have no clue about US Sports only Soccer but even I would know not… Read more »
I can’t believe this. I loved this show…it hurts.
How can they cancel Flash Forward?????? Are they nuts?
The suits at ABC have done it again. What are we left with? Mindless reality shows where “hooking up” is the hottest thing? And then you wonder why you don’t get the ratings that you’d like. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven’t watched tv in years, about 30 to be exact. I caught the premiers of V and Flash Forward when visiting family. I’ve been watching them on the internet. Now I remember why I don’t watch tv. Whenever I like something it gets cancelled. I like both.
