Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
I really like the show and I’m sad to see that it was cancelled. I don’t think I missed an episode. I think you should rethink cancellation of it
Bring it back quick fast and in a hurry!
The studios are trying to make the shows appeal to a wide age demographic, ONE SEASON is not enough to establish the characters plus if you want to create a return audiance you need time to develop a an “secondary”, underground plot and suspense, and ” secret questions” that keep people coming back. This show needed at least 1 or better 2 seasons to get things rolling. But the studios think instant money instead of long term money when things truly got going and bring in long term returns. I dont remember but what was the show stacked against? How… Read more »
This was one of my favorite shows too. What a shame.
With the day an age of DVRs I think ratings are not what they used to be. The time slot conflicted with two other shows, so we used the dvr, and binged watched! My husband and I will truly miss this.
I’m so disappointed and angry about this shoe being cancelled, it was one of the few I really enjoyed. There were so many places it could have gone I think k I’m done with tv all together now. Nothing but reality show nonsense and laughable crime dramas anymore
This was my favorite show, I can’t understand how it was cancelled. There are way worse ratings. This show was innovative and awesome and had the bast cast since Leverage. The actors really harmonized and profited from each other.
I have been waiting for this show to come back on since the last episode played. I looked forward to this show every week. Loved the story, casts. I can’t believe this show is cancelled. More than disappointing. This was my families favorite tv show!
Have people really not figured it out yet?if it is a good (by that I mean decent) show) it will get cancelled. Very few shows make it anymore if there is not nudity, sex, and bad language.and it is just as much the viewers fault. I guess there is no such thing as censors anymore because if there were more than half of these shows would never air.
Why in the world would you cancel such a great show? Finally, a dapperly dressed man on TV and you cancel in, keep it up and you’ll match NBC for stupid moves. I’m going back to CBS.
Extremely disappointed

I really cant understand why This TV show got cancelled. That was one of my best TV shows ever.Im really shooooooooooooocked Now
Really disappointed I really liked this show. I thought it was really getting interesting.
Love story, modern mystery, real version Sherlock Holmes, great acting leads, good writing. No nudity, no F word every other sentence…come on America…if Castle with its known ending from 5 mins…bring it back!!!!!!
This became our favorite show. I am very saddened to hear that ABC cancelled the show. I felt that the cast jelled and the show became stronger with each episode. Perhaps the time slot should have been changed first before killing a great entertaining show. This is something that could make me stop watching ABC all together.
Very disappointed. Absolutely loved this program. First time in years that I have been excited about a television series by one of the three major networks. Bye bye ABC!
