Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
you finally get a decent program on with a good story and interesting viewing
and as usual you cancel it. No wonder we cancelled cable tv
Bad move to cancel . Great storyline with endless possibilities . I’m sure the ratings would pick up if there was a 2nd season.
I am disappointed at the end of Forever. It is a breath of fresh air on UK television. Maybe it would have had more viewing figures if it had been aired at a reasonable evening hour instead of 09:00 in the morning. We had to record the show to watch it later. Please, Please. Please bring it back with a new series. It’s all about entertainment, and even if you break even financially it is too good to just throw it away. 22 episodes is not enough. I, and I think lots of people crave more. Please spend some money… Read more »
Finally, what will it take for ABC to come to its senses and renew this show? My family love this show.. Bring it back!!!!
I liked this show. My wife is very fussy and doesn’t like too many TV shows. She loved this show and we both would like to see more.
I was just checking to see WHEN Forever was coming back for season 2 and I see it’s been cancelled. To echo everyone else, ABC finally has a great show, with a real story line and cancels it. I hope Netflix or someone else picks it up. It was my favorite show last season, so disappointed.
ABC finally had an original interesting show and cancelled it. I hope you all get fired for being idiots.
Why are the good shows cancelled and the crappy ones kept? This show was great, kept me intrigued every week. Finally a show not built around sex. ABC you are stupid.
They say that they cancel shows because of the ratings, but some shows that have worse ratings and a lot less viewers get renewed while good shows like Forever get cancelled. It makes me mad. There are only a few shows I like to watch and Forever is one of them. I want it back. It has such a great story line.
My wife and I will really miss Forever
I can’t believe it. Show was interesting, original, and characters were just starting to develop.
Sorry you cancelled the series FOREVER – any chances for a continuation?
Best regards,
Jürgen Heiling.
25 years old from the UK I’m watching all the reruns on sky one as I really loved this show and not interested in sex and language.. I hope Warner Bros find a new home for the show
ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?! You replaced “FOREVER”, one of the best shows ABC has produced in years, with absolute garbage!! You finally get a show, such as “FOREVER”, that is actually followed and talked about everywhere, that is (for a change) NOT a premium channel show, and you then dump it? ABC obviously has no desire to maintain any type of a following. No wonder ABC can not compete with other networks! The production staff at ABC really needs to re-evaluate there jobs and future, as the present staff seems Hell-bent on running this network into the ground.
Best Show on TV.
It’s a shame it was cancelled. I was actually looking foward for next season. Oh well, i guess stuff like this happens all the time. Also, how it ended left many open questions, and also there wouldn’t be anymore plot to develop, since last episode pretty much closed what Morgan was looking for all the time. It left many unsolved questions, and the end of E22 was perfect to follow up. Hopefully, there’s something good for this season like what Forever offered, and preferably even better. Wasn’t a perfect show, and could have improved more.
So sorry that ABC saw fit to cancel “Foerver”. This was a very entertaining and heart warming show. There is so much reality show trash on TV today. I really enjoyed the program and I would be more than happy for it’s return!!!!
