Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
I in fact am not a part of the 18-49 year old range, I’m a teenager and this show really got me interested. I think if the ABC wanted to get more viewers they could have seen how well it did in the 14-18 age range as well as the elderly who might be interested in this stuff. I am really disappointed that it had to end like this. Thanks ABC
I loved the show and recorded it. I think many ABC does not take into consideration many people work, record and watch shows when convenient.
One of my favorite shows. Stop canceling good shows. BRING BACK FOREVER!
This show was so entertaining and I enjoyed every episode I hope it can be bought by another company and more seasons can be made.
I really loved Forever. I think it was funny, clever and entertaining. I really feel ver sad 🙁
I am extremely upset. I loved this show so much and I’m never watching a show from abc because all they do is get people into a show and then take it away.
I loved the show “Forever” and definitely want a second season. It should be advertised more so that many more people know it is on. I only stumbled across it by accident but it is one of the best shows I have seen.
I really liked this show…all main characters, took an unbelievabel situation..and made it believable. Everytime a network gets it right..they freaking cancel the show !!
Another great show cancelled! I wish I never invested the time into !!!!! This happens so often now!
Looks like the only people who matter to ABC are the 18-49 year olds. This was a great, entertaining series and I am very disappointed that it will not be back on the otherwise boring ABC channel – Great Decision ABC (with all the sarcastic feelings I can muster).
great series. loved it. its true it only lacks advertising. i even recommended this series to all my friends here in the Philippines….
Its a great show. It took a bit to take off truthfully but once your in your hooked. I didnt even know about the show untill the 15th of may 2015 where my brothet and sister introduced me to the show. I think it didnt get the rating because it didnt reach all of its target audiences. If you advertise on things such as social media it would have gained more awareness and been a bigger success. I say try a season two and advertise brouder. Its a great show i give it four out of five stars.
Amanda
