Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
I will miss the show. There are two few articulate, historically knowledgeable, pro-science heroes on television.
This show is my family’s absolute favorite – well tied with Blue Bloods – PLEASE DON”T CANCEL IT.
I really looked forward to this show. Just knowing I could find it on ABC was a bonus. The show was written very well and the actors picked were fantastic! What more can you ask for to watch and get caught up in a changing drama each week. It had so much more to offer than anything else out there. I felt like Henry was teaching something new each week. I was surprised at how many generations could follow along. My in-laws told me about the show. So I caught up by watching on the internet first and then on… Read more »
I’m so disappointed that Forever is not coming back for another season, six or more. Instead of cancelling, I wish they would have moved it to another time slot. I think the reason it didn’t have more viewers is because it was not really promoted like other shows…not even on the website. Too bad that this quality of show is over.
You absolutely nailed the reason Pàmela, the show wasn’t promoted.
I found it by accident and became so intrigued with the show I literally would become thrilled on the day the show was to air.
I liked the show Forever and I think it should have been renewed!! I’m disappointed that it wasn’t given a chance with a 2nd season
I loved that show. Who makes these decisions? I wish another network would pick it up. I would even buy a special channel to see it. ABC get a clue. This is a good show. There are so many dumb shows on that didn’t get canceled and should have. All those reality shows most of them are ridiculous. As you can see I’m pissed.
I cannot believe they are not continuing the show, it was great. Instead they keep the reality crap. i would rather watch something with a story. This show was perfect. i was really looking forward to season 2. i would really like to see the show continue.
I loved this show!!! They don’t monitor all tvs in America, only a select few. This is so frustrating. We got no ending to this brilliant show. Will all the real garbage on tv remains!
we loved Forever. not only was it a good “crime solving” mystery, it had the added elements of history, hint of romance, family ties, and morality and mortality.
I despise reality tv – too much reality in life. PLEASE reconsider and bring back Forever!
Why is it that you take off good sound shows such as this after the first season, and don’t give it a chance to attract a following ? Give us non reality watchers a chance to watch something good for a change.
I loved the show, it was so much better than those stupid dating shows, reality shows, and stupid comic shows. Come on ABC, if you want to stand against CBS and all it’s great shows you need to put Forever back in your lineup. ABC has a bad habit of canceling the good shows and leaving the stupid shows on. I guess I don’t have any reason to tune into ABC this season.
I like the show , I had something to watch other then news , I would have like to see the next season and what develops. I have question that will not be answer . This show got me watching ABC , normally I never really watch show on this network . I very sad I like all the actors too . I only hope that network changes their mind and at lease brings it back for one more season.
I really enjoyed this show. Was a great series. Was looking to see when the second series was going to start and am now disappointed that it isn’t going to air. Why do ABC cancel all of the interesting series and keep all the crap.
Forever was a wonderful show. The cast was great. The story line was well written. Can’t believe ABC would cancel one of the few interesting and intelligent shows on TV.
I really liked the show, it was half way through the season before I found it!!! I am always looking for a good thought provoking show. Absoluting 1000 times better then ANY dribbling reality show!!!!
