TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Forever is a wonderful television series and I rarely feel this way about a tv show. The premise is new and fresh. my husband and I look forward to seeing it each week. Finding what Henry is up to this week or the amusing things Judd Hirsch is going to say as he steals every scene he is in. I can’t believe this truly entertaining show is cancelled. Please reconsider!
Why would you cancel this show. It is one of the few shows I watch. You keep stupid shows on like Grey’s Anathomy and Scandle that are unrealistic but this great original show you cancal. This is really awful. Please do not do this. I hope he marries Jo.
PISSSED!!!
I have NEVER tried to write to get a show back. Forever is a show we have as a family have watched. Family being in Florida, Nebraska, Texas, North Carolina, Indiana and Illinois. PLEASE say this was a mistake.
Absolutely love Forever, DON’T CANCEL IT!!!
I can’t believe they have cancelled this show. I look forward to it every week. Their is such little good drama out there on TV land. Instead they hold on to all those idiots shows, like reality TV, or another vampire series. We need dramas with a good story line that continues from week to week. Like revenge.
I really enjoy Forever. It’s hard to invest time into a show to find out it’s being cancelled. I’m so disappointed.
Love Forever, the actors are superb, and the stories good. I do wish they had a better way to bring him back to life. Never mind that he disappears, but so does his clothing, and I have no idea how he gets them back. Coming naked out of a river is just weird. But, despite these problems, I want it back!
I’ve enjoyed this series and I’m sorry to learn it has been cancelled. I would have liked to see another season with Jo aware of Henry’s status. It seems when you find a show that you can get into it gets cancelled too soon. But the garbage remains.
I was upset to hear that Forever was cancelled. This is my favorite show. I am so tired of all these reality shows. I loved the characters and the storyline. I love how it goes back in time. Please do not cancel this show. Give it another season.
My husband and I are heart broken. That show is so different. What”s the matter with the network????.
My husband and I really loved watching Forever and are so dissapointed to hear it’s been cancelled. It was one of the best new shows. The plot and actors were all fantastic. When it ended it left me on the edge of my seat wanting to see what was going to happen next season.
My husband and watch every one of the Forever shows. Please bring it back. It should NOT be cancelled!!!
My son insisted that I sit down while he told me bad news “Forever” had been cancelled. The actors were excellent. The writers knew how to write scripts above the 8th grade level, and the photography was good and camera flashback scenes added historical content. Costume designers were on the ball. Oh well, I guess they cancelled the show because it was too literate and not dummy-downed.
We…. ( wife & I ) loved the show. We taped it and replayed the shows over & over.
We thought the chemistry was great with all the characters in the show.
We will definitely miss this Show. Would like to see another season if ABC would renew the contract. We believe it was ready to be a top TV series… definitely deserves another season. ABC will regret this move.
Very disappointed that ABC chose to cancel Forever … it is a great show!! I am sure they kept all the stupid reality shows though!!
