TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I can’t believe they’re canceling Forever. This was one of the few shows my husband and I looked forward to watching. There is such unbelievable trash on TV. I am sick of reality TV and sitcoms. Why cancel this show. Come on cable or Netflix pick it up. This show has great actors and good writing. They renewed Galavant and Fresh Off of the Boat but they cancel Forever, please! Are there monkeys who choose what to keep and what to cancel?
Forever is a great show and a diamond in the rough. It possesses all the qualities that create a great show, which are a loyal fan base, devoted cast, and an interesting story plot that gets people hooked!! I started watching the show from the first episode and immediately fell in love with it. My dad on the other hand only watches the news, but walked in on me watching it 12 episodes into the first season and loved it! This show gets you hooked no matter the episode number you first start to watch! That is a great show… Read more »
What’s going on with these network executives lately. ..Some very good shows have been canceled lately, including Forever. It was well done!!!
I can’t believe the network would cancel this show… Every Tuesday I would watch it. One of my favorite shows. There isn’t that many good shows on air anymore. They should really bring it back. I want to know what would have happened next!! Bring back the show!!!!!!!!
So disappointing that ABC cancelled “Forever”, as it was one of the best shows. Loved the flashback scenes and the storylines, including all his knowledge from his long life. Wish they would reconsider. We always looked forward to watching this show!!
This is the only show my Husband will sit down and watch with me. I think it was really going to get good second season. The romance between Henry and Detective Jo. There is enough reality shows on TV. I prefer the fantasy shows. Don’t cancel this entertaining show.
Nooooooooo! This is the best written show! Please do not cancel! I don’t get to watch tv much but, this one I never miss.
I thought this show was great. All you new guys in Hollywood want instant gratification or you cancel. This is the same reason Barney Miller never got an Emmy and it was on long enough to qualify. You should at least do one last season with Jo now knowing everything about Henry. Hell maybe even the whole group and make into a super crime fighting unit that only the squad knows Henry’s secret. Sure as hell better than the stupid reality shows.
Extremely disappointed that Forever has been cancelled.
I am so disappointed that the show was cancelled. It was my favorite show!!! I was looking forward to a hook-up between Henry and Jo or at least drama when she found out his secret.
I think it’s terrible that they’ve cancelled it. One of the better shows! I was looking forward to next season.
This really upset me, I haven’t enjoyed a new show like I did this one! It is such a good show I can’t believe it’s been cancelled so they can bring something stupid and not worth watching next season! Tired of reality television and really enjoyed watching this with my husband and teenage daughter! I am so tired of shows we like being cancelled during its first season and just the one season… Rediculous!!!
We are CRUSHED that Forever is cancelled!! We love it!!! We love the good story lines….weekly and ongoing. We love the characters. We love that the show is clean…..one of the few that does not use profanity and is not all about sex. We are sad to lose one of the classiest shows on TV.
It was just too classy for American TV, apparently!
Oh please reconsider ABC! This is a great show. It’s different, creative, intriguing with wonderful characters. Let’s see what’s next.
I am very disappointed. I love the story and the cast. Please won’t another network pick up the show or ABC reconsider???
