TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I am so sad that Forever was cancelled. I fear that a good show cannot exist on network television anymore. The networks seem incapable of recognizing quality.
I sincerely hope that Netflix or some other outlet will pick up the show. They will surely gain a large crowd of very grateful, loyal fans.
#SaveForever! Best new show of the season and the only one I stuck with.
I love this show. Of course they cancel a show for adults who aren’t interested in zombies, vampires or reality trash. This show is so interesting and unique. Just another reason to keep the TV off.
In this age of reality shows, it was a breath of fresh air to have a well written, well acted intelligent show to watch! I’m flabbergasted that this show was cancelled and hope that it will be picked up by another network! They will not only get a quality show but a throng of fans with it!!!!
Forever should absolutely be brought back. It’s a truly amazing and enjoyable show with superb writing and acting. A “classy” show. I feel a definite WRONG decision has been made here and I so hope it’s picked up by another network.
Once again you are targeting shows for the lowest common denominator and removing well done, well written shows with excellent cast so more atrophy brained shows like the Kardashians etc can be viewed.
A great show. Great writing, great cast.excellent plots. I guess it is too complex for the lowest common denominator audience you are targeting. The group who follow the Kardashians and other brain dead shows!!!!
Wake up!
Now I have nothing to watch!!!
They cancelled some of favorites! Resurrection and now Forever!
What is wrong with people, I have enough reality in my life already; I don’t need to watch someone else’s f**ked life .
I hope ABC reconsiders bringing Forever back, I can’t stand another reality sh*t.
This really s*cks.
I’m shocked that Forever was cancelled. This was my favorite show, I loved it, looked forward to it every week. I loved everything about the show, the writing and acting were excellent.
Whatever got into the heads of those who decided to cancel. Bring it back! If ABC won’t renew it then let another network pick it up.
I’m beyond disappointed!
Once again the powers that be have cancelled a series that showed great promise and which captured the audience’s imagination! Why is it that every time an interesting programme comes around and continues to hold your attention you read of its pending or immediate cancellation? As others above have commented, there are other options that could bear “retroactive” cancellation, if you ask me. Please contemplate reinstating “Forever” (at least, for a while longer).
SIGNED: The Extremely Disappointed
This is a great show. IT should not be cancelled….
I’m upset that ABC would cancel “Forever”, a quality show, because it speaks to the wrong demographic. i.e. They keep reality absurdness, but throw away the quality writing and acting of “Forever”. Just as upsetting is that apparently our comments here will make NO difference.
I have some info for “Forever” sponsors: my demographic is older, makes more money, and pays the bills for some younger (through college age) viewers. If sponsors lobby to bring back “Forever”, I promise to support them. Anyone know how to lobby the sponsors?
I, too, hope they re-consider their decision on cancelling ‘Forever’. It has a great story-line, and a whole lot more story, that can be told. I agree with a lot of the other posters, about the nonsense shows that stay on the air, like ‘Bachelor’, ‘Survivor’ and ‘Chrisley Knows Best’.
Please renew ‘Forever’ for next season.
Please reconsider and renew Forever. I rate it up there with Elementary, well, close to it anyway.
