It was a little bit of a surprise that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled by CBS earlier this week. While the show’s ratings have dropped significantly this season, many reported that the TV show was on track for season six. Well, CBS may have cancelled it but the TV show could still continue on ABC.
Ghost Whisperer follows Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a young woman who has the ability to see, talk to, and help the dead. Series regulars have included David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, Jay Mohr, Aisha Tyler, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, and Kenneth Mitchell.
With the current ratings, Ghost Whisperer wouldn’t ordinarily be of interest to ABC. However, the network co-owns the show with CBS and actually handles the production in-house. They actually developed the series before CBS picked it up back in 2005. If the price is right, ABC would stand to make more money from season six episodes once they hit syndication.

According to Deadline, negotiations for Ghost Whisperer possibly moving to ABC started on Tuesday afternoon and are still in motion. Word is that they are going well though there are a number of points to work out.
It’s positive that the showrunner for next season is already in place and producers have signed on. That means that the show is ready to go back into production. The Ghost Whisperer writing staff have all been asked not to take other jobs until a final decision is made.
For now, people are being cautiously optimistic. Deals like this have fallen apart at the last minute before but things are reportedly looking good. We’ll obviously keep you posted.

CBS-What are you thinking? My daughter and myself have been watching this since the story started. It is our time together. At times the writing has been sketchy. Jim dying and the whole Sam thing. Just a little to far out there. Not to mention you decided to skip 5 years with Aidan. That was rather interesting as far as character build up. I watch little TV, but Ghost Whisperer was one that I didn’t miss even if it meant I had to record it. I guess CBS’s rating will drop even more now that they took Ghost Whisperer off. I do hope that the show does continue and if so I will be watching it.

I hope that ABC will pick Ghost Whisperer up. It is a fantastic show. I really enjoy watching Ghost Whisperer. It should not be canceled. What is wrong with this network. Please keep Ghost Whisperer running. Carol

My daughter and I LOVE Ghost Whisper, we love the cast we look forward to both Ghost Whisperer and Medium. It doesn’t matter when it’s on because we DVR it, we really hope ABC picks it up. We love the cast and it’s refreshing that the characters (Melinda, Jim, Della, Eli, & Ned) have a great relationship on the show and Melinda & Jim’s marriage is strong. ABC…I pray your smarter than CBS and pick up the BEST show that CBS was STUPID ENOUGH to let go! I have no need to ever tune into CBS again. Ghost Whisperer was the only show on that network I ever watched. No need to tune into that channel ever again.

ABC, CBS, SCI FY, who cares. Tjis is an incredible show with a very loyal fan base, wherever it’s o, we will follow. There are too many cases of really good shows not being given ample opportunity to succeed. Angel, Tru Calling, Doll House, just to name a few. Ghost Whisperer is the best show of this type that has ever aired.
I absolutely love Ghost Whisperer. I think ABC should be on Fridays.
i really hope that they do pick it up, i will always watch the show as do a lot of my friends and family, its the best show out there if you ask me and i really don’t want it to end, there are so many more great story lines and things to come with it……… may it continue for a long time to come on ABC :0)
