It was a little bit of a surprise that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled by CBS earlier this week. While the show’s ratings have dropped significantly this season, many reported that the TV show was on track for season six. Well, CBS may have cancelled it but the TV show could still continue on ABC.
Ghost Whisperer follows Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a young woman who has the ability to see, talk to, and help the dead. Series regulars have included David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, Jay Mohr, Aisha Tyler, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, and Kenneth Mitchell.
With the current ratings, Ghost Whisperer wouldn’t ordinarily be of interest to ABC. However, the network co-owns the show with CBS and actually handles the production in-house. They actually developed the series before CBS picked it up back in 2005. If the price is right, ABC would stand to make more money from season six episodes once they hit syndication.

According to Deadline, negotiations for Ghost Whisperer possibly moving to ABC started on Tuesday afternoon and are still in motion. Word is that they are going well though there are a number of points to work out.
It’s positive that the showrunner for next season is already in place and producers have signed on. That means that the show is ready to go back into production. The Ghost Whisperer writing staff have all been asked not to take other jobs until a final decision is made.
For now, people are being cautiously optimistic. Deals like this have fallen apart at the last minute before but things are reportedly looking good. We’ll obviously keep you posted.

If ABC will pick up Ghost Whisperer I will never watch CBS again
The one thing I looked forward to each week was being able to escape our stressful lives and enjoy watching this show. With all of the reality crap that is airing on TV now it is very disappointing when you have a show that people really enjoy it will just be cancelled.
we love the show so dose the little kids who watch it just bring spice to it a little then it will come back up . i mean the vates.

OMG!!!!! ANother Series ending with no closure!!!! These networks need to stop doing this or no one is going to invest any time watching any new shows!!!

Are you kidding me? You can’t cancel the show. I am so angry, I will be furious if they just cancel it without airing the 6th season, at least in the 6th season you can END it. The last episode was NOT an ending ! We have no idea what happened, will happen. And that’s soooo obnoxious. Someone should take over and air the show ! How rude is it to just stop? I want to know the ending, I want to know what happens with the ghost who is threatening them. And I’m sure many many others do too.
In addition to the above: There’s so much left for us to learn about the characters. We didn’t get a proper ending, there was no closure for the fans. I can’t stand it when networks do that with shows! It drives me insane!! It’s even worse when they leave fans with a huge cliff hanger that we’ll never get an ending to. I don’t really care which night it airs, as long as it comes back!! I have an idea/opinion on why the ratings have fallen so badly for the last 2 seasons…Look at the economy! More people are working nights, because they have to take the work when they can get it, & more people are cancelling their cable/satellite because they just can’t afford it at the moment. I love the ghost whisperer show its my favorite!! I liked charmed but that changed after I watched ghost whisperer!! Theres nothing that I would want more then for you to put it back on the air. You would make a lot of people happy if you would keep it. I dont know if you will look at this but Ive been looking for season 5 on dvd and theres a buch of things about season 6 and I wanted to find more. Please air it!!! Thank you!
I was a big Charmed fan! And then I started watching Ghost Whisperer. I haven’t been a follower of the show up until recently. It felt like along the lines of what the Charmed Ones do… in a way…;) It amazes me that other channels play Ghost Whisperer, why couldn’t one of these other channels that promote them, pick them up? Much like how Rizzoli & Isles began this year on TNT. Pretty good show! After reading all these comments from the different sites, it would be wrong of ABC not to pick the show up. Think of all the views you would have….many!!!
